They are trash.  Thanks though.

I was testing recording skills on riffs here and there.

But two of them actually feature the KM 184s on acoustic stuff.

But, if you still are when I get there... I'll join in. Not in a man-on-man dance but in a Line Dance kind of way. Mmmmmkay?

Hi Bapu,

I recorded this a few days ago. It's the first recording I made with my new Blue Bluebird mic ($299) and ART Pro MPA II Ref Series Tube Pre-amp ($299).

Very little comp, and the only EQ is I rolled off the low end and brought up the highs just a little bit on the acoustic. No EQ on the bass. There's a touch of reverb. I just used the Sonitus Reverb and the Acoustic Bus preset and didn't touch any settings on it.

The bass and the acoustic was run through the MPA II and in to my Fast Track Ultra.

BTW ... the train whistle ... that's real. There's some tracks about 3 miles south of my house and when the wind blows out of that direction it carries the sound all the way here. Sometimes I can't even hear the TV when they blow the horns and I have the doors/windows open. Listen real close in a couple spots, you'll hear it.

I recorded this 96Khz@24bits and exported it that way with no dither. Then I converted it to a 320 MP3 hi Q setting.

The mic was placed in various positions, but I only used 1 mic and double tracked everything except for the walk in at the beginning. Some riffs it was at the 14th fret about 4 inches away and other riffs it was about 3 feet away pointing at the sound hole.

I did this as a test to see how well it would record acoustic guitar. The manual says it makes great acoustic recordings but it's hard to get it positions right. At least they're honest about it. :)

Thanks Mike & Bapu.

It would have been a little brighter if I had new strings. The ones on it are a couple of years old and need to be replaced.

I have a 67' Fender 12 string I was going to do some tests with but the strings on it are completely shot and I don't have the energy to go through all you gotta go through to replace them and tune the damn thing. Let alone keep it in tune so it doesn't sound like a swarm of bees comin' at ya. :)

Bub,

Ain't that what a 12 string is supposed to sound like?

you guys may laugh me out of the forum for this, but on a BUDGET, I'd look at the Behrihnger B-5's.   they're NT5 clones, but they come with a cardioid and an omni capsule.  they're ~$75 each.  you used to could get them in a matched pair with an XY stand mount and case, but I can't find those any more.

if you can spend it, the NT5 matched pair is supposed to be good as well.

+1 on Behringer B-5, I use a B-5, especially with the omni capsule gives a very natural, clean sound for silly money.

I have an AKG 2000B Condenser mic that I use for acoustic guitar, along with the internal mic/preamp.  It's an "affordable" mic, and is pretty solid for this type of instrument.
