Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid? Which of course is an entirely erroneous idea.

bapu -1 for The Jerk (Straummy) +1 for L. A. Story (Bapu) Straummy's favourite film would likely co-star Ricky Gervais and Steve Martin with cameo roles from Prince Philip and Adrian Chiles. (or would it?)

Most people I know don't like Ricky Gervais. Or is it me they don't like?

SteveStrummerUK The Pink Panther anyone? I just asked about PP in the other thread. I've only seen bits of either the original or the sequel. I was thinking that Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards were flogging a dead horse after a while with all the sequels they made with essentially the same plot. How many of those films ended with a masquerade party? My favorite sequence: Clouseau, "Does your dog bite?" Hotel clerk, "No." [chomp] Clouseau, " I thought you said your dog doesn't bite." Clerk: "It's not my dog."

SteveStrummerUK The Pink Panther anyone? Steve Martin did a great job with the role - but I grew up watching Peter Sellers, and it's not quite the same for me. Sort of like watching American comedians try to do justice to Monty Python material.

My favorite film Steve Martin was in was The Three Amigo's. I've seen it at least 30 times and never get tired of it. They do a song in it called Blue Shadow's On The Trail. It's great!

I mentioned his role in The Pink Panther semi-ironically as I was led to believe that everyone thought that travesty was complete tripe. As far as being funny, Mr Martin isn't fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Peter Sellers.

I think he's been focusing on his banjo playing these days. He has a band and, I think, a new album.

It's got to be "The Jerk" followed by "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" I like the old stuff so I'd also throw "Man With Two Brains" in there too". After that the films take a real departure from the vibe of his old stand-up - which I love. "Wild and Crazy Guy" and "Let's Get Small" are pure genius IMO.

I liked "All of Me" with Lilly Thomlin. I think he was best as a solo stand-up before SNL. I liked his HBO specials back then.

Steve Martin's finnacial intake is probably (roughly) inversely proportional to how much it appeals to me personally.

Tap I liked "All of Me" with Lilly Thomlin. I think he was best as a solo stand-up before SNL. I liked his HBO specials back then. Yeah "All Of Me" was one of the better films. Kind of mixed the "old" Steve Martin with a bit of what was to come. (Then there are the non-comedic roles. He's in a David Mamet film called "The Spanish Prisoner". I'm not sure how particularly great he is in it, but the movie itself is really good IMHO.)
