Plazma To be precise: It is an UTTER disgrace. Some nights I just give up trying to load the forum. I am very happy for the guys who have no problems, but my deepest sympathy goes out to my fellow-sufferers who struggle to load the forum. Yes, it is RELLY slow. :) That it works fast for many people and, at the same time, very slowly for you indicates the problem is likely not with Cakewalk's server(s) but the chain of connections between them and you. I tried using tracert in a command-line terminal window but it never gets to the forum itself (probably it's configured for security reasons to reject the stream of ICMP packets tracert uses). Even if it never reaches forum.cakewalk.com itself, you might find a suspiciously slow link in the chain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traceroute Good luck! P.S.: Dog avatars are fine but ponies totally rule.

I think a lot of us suffer this intermittently though, for me anyway, it's not permanently slow - just every now and then. Except for the OP, it seems like most of the people experiencing slow loads are outside the US. Wonder if that's the issue? Are the US people experiencing problems in more rural areas? Just a thought.

It's generally fine for me in the UK. Every now and then it craps out completely, but when it's working, it's pretty quick.

SF_Green yorolpal It doesn't like IE9 apparently because since I've upgraded it's just a total PITA on that (my production DAW) box. Firefox is free - give it a shot. Or try Opera or Google Chrome, also free. The latest versions of Opera are amazingly fast. http://www.opera.com/ http://www.mozilla.org/ (Firefox) http://www.google.com/chrome/ Yes IMO FF and Chrome are far superior to IE. I've only used Opera on my phone. The only thing I use IE for is to download another browser. FWIW: The forum runs t a pretty standard speed for me relative to other sites I browse. Sometimes it gets bogged down a bit but for the most part (like right now) it seems fine. And keep in mind I'm in California and not Boston, so proximity has nothing to do with it.

Oh, no doubt it affects lots of people and I suspect the farther away a user is in Net topography from the server, the worse the problem gets. The nature of the Series of Tubes. At this moment I am using a netbook remoted to the desktop, 2nd floor, and then to the forum. Working fine. About 8 months ago, for many months, remoting from a different computer, the forum was not usable. This suddenly got better. About a month ago I installed IE9 on my wife's computer. And one of her primary sites became way stupid. Tried compatibility mode,... No joy. Chrome works. I have had client's experience such stuff. If the problem occurs again I will: reset all IE security settings to defaults disable the use of proxy servers (this sometimes gets changed???) restart the router (recent storms reduced speed to 700 instead of 2500. took a day to think of doing this) Mark all forum messages as read, reset last visit time. test speed using the tools at dslreports.com j
