It seems this is setup for Cubase.  Ben how are you getting it to work with X1? Oh I also have an Android tablet. Just found it. It does support X1. At Android Pit there is a free version.

mmmmm..gotta check that out..thanks!!

The neat thing about Android tablets is there are so many out now.

They are great for mobile computing.

Let's see.  I bought a Gtablet.  Crappy overlay.  I need to flash 3. whatever to it.  Then I need to add a wireless to my desktop (where is bluetooth when you need it?).  Then the program (which looks cool).  And hopefully this will work.  I'm not a geek - I couldn't even play one of TV.  But it seems like a long way around for a process I explicitly bought the tablet for.  I'll try to get it to work if I can clear out the time w/ other, more important projects (ie. paying).

Maybe I should have bought an Ipad?  But I still would have had about half the set up problems.  Oh, well, live and learn.

It would be nice if Cake jumped on board w/ a program (no support, even) to control SONAR (and the softsynth rack assignable knobs) w/ a tablet app.  In my infinite ignorance I suppose it shouldn't be too hard since individuals have programmed it.  It would certainly be a nice selling/marketing point to get there early.

Anyway, time to try to make some money.  Please guys, let us know how the thing works and keep the extraneous stuff to another post.  Esp. about fighting over the speed of a tablet.  I mean, I don't want to run audio/video, just some midi control instead of a mouse.

If anyone's interested :

iPad 2 with AC-7 Core is great for Sonar. eyeControl so far I haven't been able to get working (Sonar = Generic DAW)

This looks promising :

John,

To be honest I find AC-7 Core needs TLC to get it running....... But I guess its early days !

You need this midi software to get it set up. Unfortunately neither site posts "exhaustive" instructions, very succinct. That being said (and being no iPad fanboi as such) it is interesting how it works, and the possibilities are there, iPad or Tablet, whatever your poison.

Imagine this scenario :

Your guitar/keyboard amp is one side of the studio. Your PC the other. You need to put down a lead intro. You get everything set up, the correct sound, you're in place next to your amp/cab, wow, great !  Then you touch the iPad (or Tablet) and the recording starts, away you play. You don't have to race from one side to the other tripping over cables etc

OK I exaggerate. But it is an interesting concept.

And as far as eyeControl goes, I'll test it out, but not for 3 weeks, I'm away on a trip from tomorrow so no DAW with me, only a crappy work laptop with IE6 ...... LOL

Cheers,
Jerry

I have foot pedles for my Mackie to record and play back at a distance.  25 feet.

But I get your point.  I will check out how to get my tablet to do this also. I have the software thanks to the OP.

BTW you don't by chance know a fellow called Honest Al do you?

Great converstaion, just looked at midipad look pretty similar to TouchDAW, did you say you were having trouble setting it up John? let me know and I will see what I can do?

How do I become a Beta Tester, would Sonar even let me become a Beta Tester but great conversation and lets all be nice to the man with the I-Pad.

Peace Ben

The have Go to my PC, so that you can remotely access your PC from anywhere on any other PC. Now with the XOOM we need Go to my DAW... I wonder if you could use Go to my PC, access X1, and remotely record tracks using a wireless tablet... I don't guess it should be out of the realm of possibility, if someone really tried to make it work.

Julien

BIG UPDATE on this one, I've just figured out a free program can do this, it's called Pocket Cloud, ess, your windows screen comes up on the tablet, you have a mouse but you also have tactile control!!!!.

It's not perfect, a bit laggy but I will investigate this further, this program is free, I reakon a paid program might do this better, this is exciting stuff (nerd alert).

Another update, just had Sonar mixing screen on my tablet screen, could control everything.  The lag is a problem and this could be a number of things but it is still useable.  In that I could set up a headphone mix in the live room, with the tablet.  But it works!!!!  More research and updates as they come to hand!!

That IS cool. It sounds like you are having fun.

Do you think you could make me a holo-deck? Like on Star Trek: The next Generation. I hope I live to see that.

There are a number of on-line DAW's coming up the pipe

I have an online/offsite program that handles all my business files. Customer accounts etc, service, billing. I can access it from any computer, just login. An online DAW will be interesting if it is not too expensive. I don't know how it would handle latency though, or what would happen the next time the Amazon cloud rains and crashes. I don't imagine me or my files would be much of a priority to them. Remember a few months ago when the coud blew away and forums were down all over. Who knows what all was lost. I bet some people learned a big lesson in backup. I have always heard that nothing digital exists until it is backed up three times.

Yea digital storage is the big issue faceing us all and one area in the digital real where you could make money.  By building your own type cloud server.
Thats another story though!!!
