Paul McCartney is the only human being to start off with black hair and turn ginger in later life. No-one wrote a book about Ringo because he doesn't exist. John Lennon had a huge collection of coal. George Harrison invented whispering.

jamesg1213 No-one wrote a book about Ringo because he doesn't exist. Can you imagine? The guy was in the most popular rock group ever, must have lived all the exciting stories, partied with the greatest celebrities, and yet, no one even tries write a book about him... Maybe I should do it. But then again, for whatever reason, w/ Ringo, a cartoon would seem more appropriate. I guess it isn't what you do, it's who you are.

Rain I happened to walk by the TV last night and there was a group called Rain in concert...they looked like The Beatles and sounded like them too. Didn't watch much because it was raining commercials.

Lol They're here on Broadway. Or they were last time I took that particular street. We've considered going, but it just didn't happen. Not that I'm a big fan of tribute bands. My nick name is/was indeed partially a reference to that particular Beatles song.

When I started reading the thread I was certain someone would post a link to this great Youtube video about the Beatles being discussed 1,000 years from now (it's really quite clever): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z2vU8M6CYI

Sometimes the "mythology" sorrounding a group gets too big and the group loses its identity. The constant reinvention of the Beatles by themselves could only last so long.

Are you guys talking about that band from the, ugh, vinyl day? luap deirub I Those recordings were so noisy, you could hear all sorts of static-y nam daed no em nrut stuff in their songs, if you cranked the volume enough. Sounded like a bunch of mih ssim mih ssim nam daed gobbledygook to me. Thank heavens we have floating point these days! And talk about repetitive lyrics "I want you. I want you. I want you-ou-ou-ou!" or "Block that kick! Block that kick! Block that kick!" I mean, c'mon! Of course, they did a kick azz cover of "my bonnie". And their version of "til there was you" s-m-smoked! Was way better than Shirley Jones's rendition. (She of that other monster rock band of the era--was it called the Pear Tree Family?)
