Of the two of us, only Troy still dresses like that

I'm not in this band but I still dress like that.

Does that make me a bad person?

He he, now that's what I call unfunny

Here's a live performance I found for you though mate.

And Matt Groening was so impressed with the VeRy MeTaL version, he's (quite literally) pencilled us in for an episode of The Simpsons

Strummy, play the song in A minor....
How many more times do I have to beat this information into you!?

Hi Steve,

Great job on this.

Cool intro and the vocal is just perfect.

Great guitar sound and overall mix. Outstanding.

Oh boy, have I done some wild things to this more than a few times back in the good ol' 70s.

It's great, I thought the vocals could be a bit more up front but I loved it. I always thought Steve Jones was a better guitarist than he was ever credited with and you've done this track great justice. Fantastic, now if you can just do the rest of the album.....

Thanks Karl, and by the way I couldn't agree more about Steve Jones - very underrated indeed. Same for Paul Cook and Glen Matlock for that matter. Unlike Sid, who was argueably quite the opposite

Talking of Matlock, I was a big fan of Rich Kids, Ghosts Of Princes In Towers is one of my all-time favourite albums.

LOL, as to the rest of the album, we've already done God Save The Queen and Holidays In The Sun And there is a rumour going around that Pretty Vacant is being worked on as we speak

Sid might not have been able to play but he sure looked the part didn't he?

As to the remix, that's great Steve, much better with the vocal more upfront. Now I'd better get the house that I've just smashed up as I pogoed around sorted out before the wife gets home......

Hi Steve,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to comment on this. I've heard the first version as well as the new one. I thought they were both pretty good...but the new one is definitely better. My only crit would be the snare. It just sounds strange to me...like more of a "plap" than a snare if that makes sense? Like it could use some body. The one you had in the other version had the girth, but needed a bit more crack. You got the crack with this one but sort of lost the body...if that makes sense? I'm a stickler for snare drums because they drive the song and we need to hear them so dominant in the mix. But other than that....this was really great man...seriously.

Guitars: These impressed me due to how at times, some of your tones had a bit of that sizzle sound going on. You could have probably added a little more sizzle in this tune due to punk-ish type stuff being aggressive and a bit bright. This actually sounds nearly analog if it weren't for the snare brightness. That's pretty impressive brother. But these guitar tones were more than acceptable. Just my own personal opinion would be to add about 2dB of 3k or so...you'll hear them cut just a hair more.

Bass, drums and vocals were really well done man. Your singer posted this on another site...and when I saw it, I said "hey, isn't Steve your guitarist.....I play with him too in another on-line band!" Hahahaha! Really great job though....my little crits are just the engineer in me coming out. The song is fine the way it is...well done brother! :)

-Danny

Cool:)

Pretty much a straightforward version compaired to the original. Is energetic a fitting word?  Yea i think so. :)

As a coinciddense i actually performed this one live last week, and before the gig i updated myself with the different versions "out there" (Megadeth, Mötley Crüe ...), and your version fills out the suit well in a comparison.

Good stuff!

(hehe, i know what i wanna say, i just hope it go through the swenglish language barrier;) )

Cheers

Edit: When i think about it... and i am not really here on the "songs" forum daily, neither have i read through the full thread ... but havent this song been up before? Just a vague memory.

Many thanks Tim, your comments are appreciated.

Hey Karl - thanks for checking out the new mix. Send the bill for any pogo-related damage to me Bapu

Hi Danny - thanks for the kind words brother. As always, I've done exactly what you've advised and twatted a 2.5 dB (Q=5) EQ boost at 3k, and replaced the 14" 'The' snare with a much more subtle 14" 'Ludwig' snare. Sounds good, thanks again   I've incorporated those settings across into the current WIP - we're doing a version of Pretty Vacant next.

Cheers Dan, thanks for listening and for your comments.

Hey Bob - thanks for checking out the remix my friend, and for the kind words

Same thanks to you Scott, appreciate your taking another listen. And I have to agree with what you say - Danny always comes through with the great advice.

Many thanks Bengt - personally I don't care much for Megadeth's version that much. For me, the Sex Pistols original is just so angry and in your face, that's what Troy and I hoped to convey with our 'tribute'. I don't recall another version of this posted in here, though I could be wrong. We have posted two other Pistols songs before - God Save The Queen and Holidays In The Sun, and we've got a version of Pretty Vacant in the works at the moment.
