Randy, Cool track. Vocals are outstanding. Paul's arrangement is lush and well executed. Ed's sax is brilliant also. Good stuff!!

Dave, thanks buddy. Herb, I think this mix is kinda genre and time period specific. It's not really meant to sound like a modern mix so to speak. I appreciate the close listen pal. Bub, Thanks for your ears and the listen and comments. Randy

Hi Randy. This sure is a rare cut. I'm a fan of 70's funk/soul and though I've heard this before I don't even know where or when. With the tempo and sparce arrangement of this tune I think that wide and fat bass tone is perfect. It has to fill up a lot of space and if it had more definition and boingyness it would thin the whole tune out. All instrument tones and performance sound great and the vox are dynamite for the tune.

Grant, thanks old buddy. Rhyno, so nice to see you caught the vibe as Paul intended. Philz, Appreciate your comments man. Tim, Very kind of you. Thanks. Larry, I was hoping you'd catch this one. Really great to see you around here again. Now fix that hole in your house and lets do something. Lynn, We don't get to hear Paul around here as much as we'd like. He's a busy dude, and it was so cool of him to ask me to do this. Still kinda awed by this. I hope I thanked everybody. Happy Holidays! Randy

Thank you all for listening and commenting. It's good to get a note from different people with different systems and I'll take them all into account on the next mix. Once again, thanks to Randy for being on Point for this. He did a heroic job, IMHO. Cheers and happy xmas to all. Paul

Nice. Good to hear all of you guys. Randy was a good call for the vox, the bass is in the pocket, and that horn section is classic. I also liked that little bit with the dirty keys. Would have liked to hear more of that, but that's just me. I have a weakness for that sort of thing. Good job all around.

Nice! I'd forgotten about this song. It reminds me of the Talking Heads, but if David Byrne had been autotuned down an octave... Great mix, great arrangement, great recording!

Really great job on this one guys. I loved the mix and the performance. I would have to side with Herb and Bub on their thoughts about "air" as I felt the exact same way while listening. None of it is muddy or anything...it's perfect for the genre/time period. I'd just add a bit of air just so it pops a little harder. Basically, you got an analog sounding mix here in my opinion which is awesome. Just a little more presence though or a curb on the lows for me so it's not quite as dark. Horns were incredible....good drum sounds, Paul smokes, Randy rocks on vox, it's just a great tune all across the board. Thanks for sharing guys...really enjoyed this. :) -Danny

Yes, James, we did. It's called Analog Universe and it's been playing on smooth jazz and ambient stations all over USA and Europe for a couple of months. It was also in the Echoes top ten last month. www.anawatyrussell.com www.facebook.com/AnawatyRussell I haven't plugged it here because although we wrote it using sonar, we mixed it in samplitude. I went over to Portland, USA, to Cass's studio for the final stages.

The Sadowski is nice, and it's freed up my Fender Jazz Pro which is currently being converted to fretless by a local luthier. But you'd like my latest toy. It's a custom Gene Parsons Fender Tele, which I got Gene to convert when we visited him in Mendocino, California. In the film in the front page of his site there's a couple of glimpses of it. www.stringbender.com
