A ways back, before you deleted drivers and started getting blue screens, you said you could work with Sonar...or you could play youtube videos BUT not both at the same time. 

SO everything was working at that point. 

Even now, I watch youtube on my old lappy NOT on the DAW. For me, CAKE has priority on the DAW. Heck, mine is not even internet connected so I could not watch youtube on it if I wanted to. 

In post #6 I clearly stated that I was able, on the Dell lappy, to have CAKE running on the studio speakers (with ASIO drivers) and at the same time listen to music from other sources on the lappy's internal sound card BUT... on the lappys (different) speakers.

Hacker,

After CJay's post it dawned on me that prior to the addition of my M Audio I was able to have the Web (Youtube) running in the back ground.  So I went back to square one..  unplugged and disabled the MAudio.  and re installed ASIO4all  and ran everything back through my internal sound card.

I did this just to confirm that I could indeed run windows and sonar.. And so I learned that when I switched from Sonar back to the web then Sonar would pause.  Not shut down or have an error.. Just paused.  When I switched back to Sonar all I had to do to get it going again was to arm a track.  

This all confirmed what CJay's was saying.  It wasn't a Sonar or Window's issue..  It was an issue with M Audio's sample rate.  So I looked on M Audio's website and found out that for my Interface the default was 48 not 44.   So as it turned out my problem was really very simple..  Find the exe file to access the M Audio software so I could change the Sample Rate.   Once that was set Windows was talking to M Audio as well as Sonar and I am able to switch back and forth without any issues.  Other than I had to delete all of the projects I started.  Not a big deal.  

Having 2 sound cards and 2 sets of speakers would work.  Or even a separate computer.  For me I'm just getting started with learning the software and the basics of audio engineering.. Once I get super serious about the production and I am making music then I'll drop the extra money on a dedicated computer for nothing but making music.

When you are ready, you can look at the options that I provided in my earlier post. That way, you will be able to run youtube or webcam software simultaneously with Sonar.
