Hi Bitflip... this is obviously a guess at this point, since no one knows exactly what DP on Windows will be - well, except the developers, the product managers, the beta testers, and so one! I didn't do a lot with automation when I used DP... mostly I used it for it's timeline capabilities, and the lovely arranger window, and it also did a nice job with support for video. Not sure how much of this is depending on Core Audio/MIDI. Oh, and nothing worked better for working with hardware synthesizers and samplers!!!! With VIs, well I don't know about them either... Oh yeah - automation. What I do remember was that it was pretty easy to draw in volume and pan, I don't recall using it to control anything else, and I probably didn't. Sorry I can't provide more info. As far as abandoning Sonar - I have no plans at the moment to do so. Augment it, yes, but I'm pretty comfortable with it at this point (since CWPA6). I held off on the leap from 8.5 to X1, and I am really sorry I did. I find the new workflow suits me quite well - wish I could find ANY other qualifier key than "alt" for entering notes, and it did take me a while to get used to the new automation bit with the drop down menus... I still look in the right click menu every once in a while! To me the combination of DP and Sonar will be pretty nice, along with Finale and Sound Forge and WaveLab... it's impossible right now to find one tool that does everything!!! (now if the'd just port "M" to Windows!!!)
