bapu I'm ascared. That's the heart of the problem isn't it. The ilok forces you into a system where you can be SOL. You shouldn't be scared to run an update.

iLoks look Pro. No two ways about it. Hardware consoles should come with em too. Just saying.

I relented and got a dongle with Reason 6 as a necessary evil. It's a Codemeter WIBU stick. If I don't plug it in I can still let the app. phone home to verify I'm a genuine license holder. Therefore if the stick goes kaput I can still use the gear. Because the licenses are also stored on-line in the event the stick does break I can de-activate and transfer the licenses to a new £30 stick. So I guess it has ZDT built-in as standard. I still don't like it.

Hi guys, Drew from FXpansion here. I just wanted to inform you that it is pretty much impossible for our software to scupper iLok drivers or the iLok itself. We don't use iLok protection, our software goes nowhere near that stuff - there just is no interaction whatsoever. This is a coincidence I'm afraid, and I'm sorry for the OP, but it wasn't us.

Heck, I didn't really think it could be you fellers Drew, ol pal. It just happened to coincide with the ECO install so it's just good practise to note everything that "might possibly" go wrong. Both my old iLok and my promised new one are somewhere in FedEx land as of now. I'm sure it'll all get back to normal soon. And, like I've said in my emails to you guys, I love all my FXP stuff. But that ol Geist is a dern wonder!!

The moral of the story is: Don't dangle with the dongle. Period!

Well...so far...iLok/Pace are earning some props. They received my iLok via FedEx today and have already reinstated my licenses and processed my RMA under warranty as my iLok was less than 24 months old. My new iLok from them is due in tomorrow and all I have to do is load it up download the latest software and drivers and then dump my licenses back on. Yes, it did cost me the shipping back and forth but it was taken care of expediently and, seems at least, to be producing the desired outcome. I'll let ya know when everything's up and running again.

It sounds like there is light at the end of the tunnel. Fingers crossed yoropal... I only have the softube mix bundle and Slate VCC on mine but a horror story like this sure makes one nervous. Jonbouy said :"I relented and got a dongle with Reason 6 as a necessary evil. It's a Codemeter WIBU stick. Sorry to hear about your problem. Kind of opens my eyes a bit ,thanks. Crazy coincidence, I work with a guy who is taking online courses using Pro Tools, and other mac apps, his son broke his ilock and he ordered a new one from sweetwater to save a bit of coin. He was planning on just being able to connect and reauthorize. If I understand you correctly, that not how it works? He has to send his busted ilock back? Edit: just read current post, wow, that was fast service, glad they got it sorted so quickly

Just received my new iLok from PACE via FedEx. Should be able to plug it in later today at the production suite...update/synchronize...and dump all lost licenses onto it. Fixed. I'll let ya know how it works out. So far...so good.

Wail...although it was touch and go at first...it took three separate log offs and reconnecting to iLok.com to finally get it to "see" my new iLok. Once it did I was able to download all my old licenses to the new iLok...update...restart...and, so far, everything is back to hot, straight and normal. Whew!! I'll let ya know if there's any shennanigans;-)

So glad I've been steering clear of this crap. And, it's too funny that people always chime in with "but I've never had a problem". If every single one had a problem, they wouldn't be selling it; that's not the point. It's that legitimate users are getting screwed, REGULARLY.
