And as far as the U.S. being the only country mentioned as having it wrong regarding football, what about Australian rules football?

Well James, at least they have the common decency to play it on a cricket pitch

Besides is it a sport even?

I just thought it was what Australians naturally did in their spare time and something that enabled us Brits to continue doing the football pools while we wait for the real football to start again in September.

(Do we still have football pools or did that go out at the same time as chatting up the birds?)

Why do they call it a cricket "pitch"? Isn't the ball-thrower called a bowler? Is the field angled? Is it covered with tar?

From what I can figure out about Australian rules football, is that there aren't any. I've even seen members of the crowd being beaten up by the 'players'. Looks like my sort of sport..... but the bike racing season is under way, now that can get funny. Anyone ever seen two grown men in full leathers, gloves and helmets trying to start fighting at the side of the track?

I've enjoyed watching some "Footy".  It confuses the hell out of me at times, but it's fun.  I don't get to see it very often these days.

I think football pools are called water polo venues... never seen any mints at one though.

If a cricket is pitching, isn't that rather too small an area to stand on, not to mention you will risk squashing the cricket.

What size of a ball does a cricket use when pitching?  How can one stand on that?

Or, is that question simply not cricket?
