I just turn it off when I'm done. I never use sleep mode, hibernate, screen savers or any of that stuff.

I might turn it on in the morning and not touch it for several hours but only turn off when its time for bed.

My personal experiance was that M-Audion drivers were not designed to return from sleep mode.  So, I had to set my power setting to all "everything always on".  Not that I have My Roland Octa-Capture, things seem to work much better ad I can turn it on and off at will.

I use sleep mode so that my DAW can wake itself up to be backed up overnight via my home server. I also have a cool Philip's power strip that detects when the computer goes to sleep. It also turns off other connected devices like my monitors, speakers, etc. Then it automatically turns things back on when the computer comes out of sleep mode. I must say that its pretty cool to just touch the trackball or keyboard and have everything turn on automatically.

I use sleep mode during the day, but turn it off at night.  Haven't had any problems with it.

Never leave hibernation mode on on a DAW. Hibernation doesn't recognize many functions of recording and editing. DAW software is minimalized on purpose to acheive clean data processing. The software switchs to instruct hibernation mode not to activate are interuptions in the DAW process.

I disable sleep mode on ALL computers I own and my client's use. I do not trust it.

As others have noted, hibernate does not work well with the audio drivers on my music computer.  I have used hibernate on the DAW when I have been researching, file maintenance,... But not with any audio program open.

I use hibernate on all my other computers, manually, each night. My wife's comp suto-hibernates, as she is prone to leave for hours at any moment.

I configure laptops to hibernate when the lid is closed, and the power button is pressed. Hibernate is a friend to business computers. No sleeping, ever. Unsaved docs can be lost.

The music computer boots in about 1 minute. I use this time to power on the mixer, speakers, guitar amps, keyboards,.... Cannot get to spending the extra electricity so it only takes 30 seconds to boot.

Otherwise, everything is powered off after use.
