Dub, I might be mistaken, not having used these features myself, but can't you do something like you want with the likes of the Matrix/Step Sequencer/Dropzone etc?

Just a thought

Bristol. Unfortunately, no. Rex files will map out in dropzone and dimension but neither offers individual outputs. One could slice up a loop in audiosnap and drag and drop into Session drummer 3 but not quite the same as having a full sampler to work with. It's pretty much wishlist type stuff.

Pulled the wallet out this morning and picked up the PC4K S-Type Channel Compressor and Expander Gate and Rapture. All in all, I would say that was a good buy.

I need to experiment with the 2 plugs to learn more about specific uses for them. I've naturally reach for the PC2a and PC76-U for vocals and guitars. Seldom use gates... And have practically zero known experience with expanders.

I got the gate and rapture (which is seriously $40 more than I had to spend, but could not pass it up).  i skipped the compressor.  Like most people here, I have too many compressors. I figure the 4 other pro channel compressors I already have should keep me busy for a bit.  Gates are simple but very useful. I find myself having to record in environments with lowl-level background noise and a gate works much better than noise reduction plug-ins for such things.

On the production side of things, layering a bass line with a deep sub made with a sin wave via a sidechained gate creates absolutely filthy bass.

I hear you on the compressors. One poster mentioned this one sounds good on bass. I will give it a try on a number of things. When needed, the sonitus gate has always performed well. I think I got these primarily because they are too good of a price to not get them.

I will have to keep that layering bass technique in mind. Like that kind of thinking.

I just picked up the PC4K S-type and am very pleased with it. I wondered if I would find a use for it after already getting the levelling amp during a previous sale - but I love it. It has a character of it's own and it's magic for voice-over work.
