I don't like to visit my past self.  He was an idiot.

Going back further, I have an extrememly strong inclination to mess with my ancestors, thereby erasing myself.  Unfortunately, my future self thinks I'm a moron and keeps interfering with my plans.

What a dork...

I know exactly what you mean... I would have nothing to do with 18yo me. We would not be friends.

In fact the reason I re-visited this thread is because I thought again about going back in time and I might, in fact, rather go forward in time to a few days before my death and just get on out of here. (Don't get me wrong, I am in no way suicidal) ... it is just that well really... this world pretty much suq.

There are always parts we'd like to rewind and watch again, and other parts we'd like to fast forward through.

I lost my remote somewhere in the couch cushions.  Sometimes, when someone flops down on the couch, I pause in an unflattering manner.

Unfortunately, it only runs at one second per second.

Just finished reading Stephen King's "11/22/63" about the use of a portal taking the person back to the exact same time and place in 1958. But every time he returns (back to 1958) everything that was changed by the previous visit is reset.
I haven't read that yet.  Now I need the time machine set for five minutes back, and stop myself from reading this thread!

Don't worry, that synopsis gives almost nothing away as that much is told to you within the first few chapters.

And it typical SK fashion, he of course subtly references (at least) three of his other books.

I'd go back to my Jr. High school bus and tell those annoying kids who were blasting Twisted Sister into my ears that in 2012 Dee Snider and Debbie Gibson would be onstage singing a duet together.

(I liked Twisted Sister well enough, I just didn't like those kids blasting it in my ears)

Easiest question I've ever been asked. Time: May - November 1985, Place: Ascension Island, Just south of the equator in the South Atlantic.

Best time of my life by far and depressingly can't see it being topped. How sad is that?

Not sad at all Karl, the best time of your life is supposed to be..just that.

I think I'd go back to March '93 and stop myself heading into 9 years of stress-laden misery.
