Hi, Julianna and Karen,

Wow, this is really fantastic!  Haunting vocals, well textured synth pads and melodies, and a pro quality mix to boot.

I think I've mentioned once before commenting on one of your video posts, that to me your voice sort of reminds me of a cool, interesting combination of Amy Lee and possibly early Madonna, (around her "Borderline" era).

Spectacular job, ladies!
Bob

This is great. I disagree with the people saying the drums are too prominent; I think it gives it a kind of angular feel that I really like.

Incidentally, you can separate the individual outputs in ReDrum. It's a bit of a faff, but it can be really useful. Press TAB in reason to look at the back of the modules. Instead of running from the main out of ReDrum to the mixer, you'll see you can run each individual drum channel to a seperate Reason mix channel. You can than set up a track for each drum channel in Sonar and set the input to the corresponding Reason output.

I'll come clean and admit that this was a Reason drum track (Redrum)--- which is actually a drum machine--- I don't think bouncing each drum seperately is an option.  But, I freaking love designing drums in that thing....

You can, especially if you use V6 by routing each drum to it's own mix channel, it involves soloing each pad in earlier versions though.

Rather than do either of those things, I tend to use a few Redrums at a time, say one for the kick, one for percussion elements, one for hats and so forth so rather than printing out each individual drum I'll have a few sub-elements contained in each Redrum that are set out to occupy the frequency ranges I'd prefer to keep separate. Hence the kick on it's own which I can then use as a trigger for ducking via a sidechained comp on other tracks if needed.

I've just done a remix of somebody elses track that employs that very method I can't post it here for obvious reasons but if you have V6 and wan't to see how it's laid out in the original song file give me a shout and I'll get it over to you.

Then it's just a case of using that as template and routing each Redrum into Sonar via Rewire to bounce down the stems.

i love most of this. some of the drums were a bit annoying at times, but that may be cos i'm listening on the laptop. this does very much remind me of Madonna's mid-period and even 'Killers' by Seal...great atmospheric song.

Bob, NightFox, thank you!  MGH, I appreciate your honesty, and I'm hoping it's just your laptop. ;)

John/Jon- I AM on v.6... My biggest problem with Reason is that it's so easy for me to find the sounds that I want, that I ignore all the tutorials and just go to it...  I really do need to set aside some time for learning the finer points, though.  Of COURSE you can send each drum track.  I sometimes can't see the forest for the trees....

I have slaved Reason to Sonar many times, but haven't yet figured out how to do it properly (even reading the instructions, GAH!)-- I have not been successful in sending separate channels from Reason to X1, although I am able to send a single audio out to Sonar.  Fine for recording vox, but that's about all.  Anyway.  I have some more learning there.  I appreciate both of your thoughts.  JB, I may pm you if I get stuck.

Excellent Jules!  I heard most of this the other day on FB, but for some reason it wouldn't finish playing for me.

Sound wonderful.  Vocals and the basic song are great.

I don't listen to that much electronica, so please take this comment in that context.  But it seems like most stuff I've heard in this genre has more of a driving beat.  If I were working with this I'd probably eq the low end out of the current percussion track and just add a driving 4 on the floor kick drum to the more rhythmic parts.

That's just a suggestion.

I really like this.  It sounds great.  And I admit, with a driving kick, it'd probably lose some of the etherial-ness.

Very cool tune,

Peace,

Ian

This is sounding fantastic through my headphones, spacious and clear. I like the blend of styles..kind of electro-folk.

This is just fantastic!  Kudos to both of you!  :)  And of course I have to say I think the keys are pretty cool.  Obviously the vocals are just amazing.  But all of it is...I'm impressed!  :)
