Kalle Rantaaho C'moooon! What plug-in was it? Someone might be able to give clear answers right away if you told the name. Only a dll-file or other folders created as well? Sorry about that. It was Electric Keys by Motu. It won't work with my system.

Guitarhacker have you restarted the computer since you removed the plug that was causing issues? Every now and then the platform I use which is generally rock solid and stable gets a bit flaky and exhibits some strange behavior. I simply shut down the whole system.... interface included and do a fresh boot/restart of everything. That normally solves it. Sometimes the firewire interface I use seems to lose it's comm link with the DAW. This can manifest in the form of stuttering, crashes, no audio, synths not working, and freezing. It's rare for this to happen in my system but a restart solves it. I've restarted, and it doesn't help. I'm beginning to think the firewire interface is the culprit. I'm running the DPC Latency scan, and I had peaks over 500 and 1 over 1000. But when I disabled my interface, my Maximum Peak, so far, is 251. It's still scanning, but it looks pretty consistent. I'll continue to check it and make sure. Thanks! Greg

Age old question, do you have a TI-chip based firewire card?

konradh If you suspect one or more plug-ins, you can hold down shift while you click the project you want to open. Sonar will then ask you one by one if you want to load the plug-ins. You can say "No" to the ones you suspect and see if that solves the issue; or you can say "No" to all and see if you have the problem with no plug ins. Note that No to All kills a lot of the built in plug-ins (like Pro Channel components, metronome, etc.). That's good to know for future reference. As my previous post said, I think the problem is my interface. I'm running a latency scan with the interface disabled, and it all looks good after running for almost 5 minutes. I think I'll start looking for an inexpensive USB interface. I've never liked firewire. Thanks, everyone, for your help!!!! I really appreciate your knowledge and suggestions!! Greg

I didn't read thru the entire post, so my apologies if this was already covered. I've experienced this exact set of symptoms occasionally using Cubase and its always due to some process having hijacked my soundcard and I have to reset my RME card as the default. Just go to control panel, sound, and check what your default audio is. Reset if necessary.

UPDATE: Yesterday I deleted anti-virus software and deleted some plug-ins - like Motu Electric Keys and Garritan Jazz. I had problems with them in the past, so I had stopped using them. Well, after deleting them, I recorded vocals, and everything appears to be working. It may be too early to know for sure, but so far it's good. Thanks, everyone!! Greg
