Anyone using Cinematic Strings 2?
Hola y'all, I'm thinking of buying them and wondering if anyone is having any issues running them via the free Kontakt 5 with X1. Thanks very much, Randy

You might also post your question on the VI Control forum (Link: http://vi-control.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=32&sid=96ac63c4cb1996dd696b7a358cddd0a6 ) which specializes in orchestral music and is frequented by working composers and some well known industry people. Probably not many Sonar users there, but there might be some. edited to add: it just occurred to me that most on that forum would have the full version of Kontakt, but you just might get some helpful comments.

Thanks John, I am somewhat assured now that they work as I just got an email from Alex Wallbank, the developer, stating they work fine in X1....I still want to check out the forum you mentioned though, sounds interesting. Thanks again, Randy

There's a thread in the X1 forum that identifies some issues with CS2. You should get up there and check it out.

I don't know how to provide a link. THe thread is in the X1 forum and it has to do with Kontakt cutting out. Post #10 in that thread is where the CS2 stuff comes in. They thought it was a kontakt problem but it was an issue with CS2.

john6448 I don't know if this is what the other John meant, but here is the link to an extended discussion of CS2 versus LASS Lite that might be helpful. http://www.vi-control.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26466 Wow...thanks very much to you and John....it'll take me some time to read the whole thread but this one saves me a lot of leg work (I need to decide pretty quick) and I'm pretty sure I'll go with CS2: Bought CS2 about 2 weeks ago, sadly had no time to really dig into it due to other ventures in the synthesizer world but I will say this, Alex and Luke at CS are top notch when it comes to customer support and replying to email's. When I was debating on which string library to purchase I had researched pretty much everything that was on the market and needless to say ended up with CS2, that of course does not imply that all the other string libraries out there are bad, but there is a number of factors that i took into consideration when making the final decision I wont go into detail but lets just say it took me 6 months to make that decision. Thanks again my friends, Randy

ampfixer I think I got it. http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2596762 Ah thanks John...sorry I've spent the last hour reading the link John B. posted and just saw this...if this is an issue with X1 then I'm concerned... but judging by the quick response I got from Alex himself regarding compatibility with X1 (and him assuring me it would work) I feel the issue will be resolved soon ....if I do have issues (fingers crossed). Thanks again very much guys, you've been a huge help! Randy EDIT: I should have read the last few posts from the Sonar forum first...it appears it's already been resolved...Jimbo said: Hey I contacted Cinematic Strings and Alex (the big guy there) sent me patches that correct the problem... So it is working fine for me now. Massimo Max send me a PM and I will send you these patches if you'd like. They work great!

I am using this library and love it. only con is the samples are large and eat up memory. I get around large orchestra works by writing the strings first, then freezing the CS tracks before adding in the rest of the ensemble. As for performance issues, as you mentioned Alex emailed patches that cured my issues. He mentioned they were going to be releasing a public update at some point to correct these as well. They are very customer driven, that is impressive and rare. Personally I think the library is amazing and produces some terrific realistic results. I highly recommend this product.
