Cakewalk plug-ins no longer showing up?
I'm working on a project, and I was trying to insert the HF Exciter into one of my audio tracks. However, I could not find it--or any other Cakewalk effects for that matter. I checked everything, and the folder containing the plug-ins is correctly showing in my VST Settings. In fact, these plug-ins are in the same folder as my Sonitus plug-ins, and my Sonitus plug-ins show up normally when trying to insert a plug-in into my tracks. Help?

Have you re-scanned failed plug ins? Did you look into the folder to make sure the plugins were actually there? Perhaps you can try clearing application cashes.. and a rescan.

Linear Phase Have you re-scanned failed plug ins? Yes Did you look into the folder to make sure the plugins were actually there? Yes Perhaps you can try clearing application cashes.. and a rescan. How do i clear application caches? Oh, looks like Cakewalk Analyst is available to insert into a track. None of the other effects are available. Yet the Analyst plugin is contained in the same folder as HF Exciter and the others... weird...

Linear Phase vaultwit sorry, accidental double-post... do a vst folder rescan :-) and let us know... worth a try, right? I already did a VST rescan. it didn't work. the plug-ins are not even showing up in the "Cakewalk Plug-in Manager". only the Analyst is showing up, but Analyst.dll is in the same folder as hfexciter.dll, paraq.dll, Aliasfactor.dll, and all the rest

Did you recently upgrade to 64 bit ? Some of the old 32 bit Cakewalk plugins may no longer be available in 64 bit version.

noynekker Did you recently upgrade to 64 bit ? Some of the old 32 bit Cakewalk plugins may no longer be available in 64 bit version. Nope, haven't done any kind of update at all. My SONAR was installed as 64-bit from the very beginning. Zo plugin layout ....check if you did changed it ... Already checked it, nothing changed. The plugins themselves are just not available anywhere within my SONAR at all. Bristol_Jonesey The HF Exciter is definitely available though it is obviously bit-bridged as it's 32 bit Correct, I have been able to use this along with the other plugins of its type perfectly fine up until now. HELP i really need these plugins! What's strange is, if i open old projects that i've used the HF Exciter in, it still exists in those projects. However, I still cannot add additional ones. So if I were to remove that one, I could not add it back on. Please help.

I would try the Reset VST button (vs. rescan). If there's something funky in the registry that should clean it up.

Do the following: - Check the folder to see if the plug-in files are there.
Path is usually C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins\ The exciter is hfexciter.dll BTW - DO NOT MOVE this plug-in or any other in the shared folder! It is a DX plug-in NOT a VST and you will break it if you move it! The only way to relocate a DX plug-in is to re-install it - rescanning will not fix broken DX plug-ins. If you have moved it, restore it to your previous location. - Bring up the Plug-in Manager and check to see if the missing plug-ins are listed.
Cakewalk's HF Exciter plug-in is a DX. While you are there check your plug-in counts, what are the counts (totals) for your VST, VSTi, DX, DXi plug-ins. - If you don't find it in the Plug-in Manager under DX (Direct X) see if it/they somehow got tagged as Excluded.
- in The plug-in manager in the bottom left click the 'Show Excluded' radio button.
let us know what your answers are. *edited to correct dyslexic typing*

The HF Exciter, along with all the other plugins of its class, are not showing up under DX. However, the Sonitus plugins (and for some reason, Cakewalk Analyst as well) ARE showing up. Note that the Sonitus plugins and the Analyst plugs are all located in the same folder (the shared folder you speak of). stevec I would try the Reset VST button (vs. rescan). Try doing a selective re-install. Load up the sonar installer and uncheck everything apart from the missing plugs

Tried all of those, and though I appreciate your effort to help, did not solve the problem. Then you need to re-install them. Period. DX plug-ins are not like VSTs - they are system devices. As such, after you install a DX plug-in it is automatically known by Sonar upon startup. The plug-in scanner is only for VSTs. If the Plug-in Manager is not seeing them then either their installation has gotten corrupted or they got deleted (perhaps nuked by a registry cleaner).

Bristol_Jonesey Try doing a selective re-install. Load up the sonar installer and uncheck everything apart from the missing plugs +1 +2. Sheesh, I completely forgot the old plugs were DX and not VST. Scanning won't help for those. I believe the Sonitus suite started life as DX but were ported over to VST along the way, which is probably why they are displaying.

I believe the Sonitus suite started life as DX but were ported over to VST along the way, which is probably why they are displaying. Actually they still are all DX plug-ins. Here are the items in the 64bit shared folder. The 'Menu Names' are my own 'friendly names' used in my Sonar menus. Item 19 & 64 are not in the Shared Plugins folder. Item 26 Chronus is actually Excluded (can't tell it from this screen shot). Edit: Sorry, I didn't account for shrinkage that might occur when image was displayed on forum. Here's a direct link to image if your interested: http://www.agitatedstate.com/SharedImages/CakeWalk/SharedCWPlugs.png Edit2: Edited my text for clarity. Updated image because some of the friendly names mistakenly referred to Project5.

Geez... My memory is even worse than I thought. Maybe I was thinking about DLLs vs. AX files... Some of the older DX plugins are still in AX format, and some of those are the one's I've had problems with in 64bit. The DLLs have bridged OK. I think.
