next problem: frequently have to "recompute audio picture"
So I installed a new audio hard drive recently and now any project on this drive I frequently have to "recompute the audio picture" to bring it back to the project. I know it's probably a simple matter to fix but I'm dumb...

Do you mean that waveform images have to be re-drawn the first time you open a project since your new hardware installation? But you don't mean they're re-drawn every time you subsequently open the same project, right? - What I'm picturing is that the image data no longer exists in the Picture Cache folder, and just has to be manufactured by Sonar again, which is no biggie - But if you mean it's being re-drawn every single time you open the same project, then you'd have a problem of some sort. If by audio picture you mean the "peaks" X1 draws of the waveform then I'd say X1 is not associating the moved files with your picture cache folder. If you open one of those projects again and it still wants to redraw them then you may have an issue.

And if it does happen every day you open the same project. I know some people use software like Ccleaner and like me they run it every time they shut down the PC. There's a setting in there you can have set to clean out specific folders like the Picture Cache. Lust a thought. But I'm guessing the 2 post's above got it. Mike

Try increasing the size of your picture cache. The default value is only 20MB, which you'll fill up in no time. Bump it up to 200MB at least (if you don't want to ever worry about filling it, make it 10% of the size of all your project wave files). If your C: drive is too full, you can move the picture cache to another disk. CW advises not co-locating it with your audio files, though.

Yes, I am referring to the waveform. I just opened a project now and while all of the waveforms are here, I just unfroze a track which as a result, the waveform picture is gone but the audio is there. The track appears as a block with )Busy) up in the top left corner. I know the remedy to get the picture back by recomputing the picture under "associated audio files" but it is annoying.. Dave, I'll continue to look for it and likely will find it but please tell me where/ how to increase picture cache in case I can't :) Thanks all !

I've uninstalled X1, so I can't tell you if there's a way via the Preferences screen, but I can tell you how to do it by editing aud.ini. In the [Aud] section of aud.ini there is a variable called PicCacheMB. Set the disk quota for the picture cache in megabytes, e.g. PicCacheMB=1000. Another variable in the same section, PictureDir, sets the location of the picture cache if you want to move it to another disk.
