Sonar X1e

We never received official confirmation that X1d was the very last point release, does that mean there will be a X1e before X2? Do you guys want X1e? Will there be an official announcement on the future of X1 or will the next versions release be the writing on the wall? A lot of users like me put in feature request and bug fix request for X1 after X1d was released which is almost 5 months ago and it's been very quiet around the bakery.

No software company ever gives that information. I suspect X1D is it and next will be an upgrade, but only Cakewalk knows that for sure,

Still no word from anyone at Cakewalk about X1. We all know by now that X2 is coming this Fall, but what about X1? The people who upgraded to Expanded got 1 major update and the people who recently upgraded during the First Class promotion won't be receiving any updates. I think a lot of us want those X1 bugs that were reported fixed for this very version and not for it to be fixed in just X2. I can't believe that Cakewalk is ignoring the situation and seem focused on their next version without taking into account what Sonar X1 product users have been asking for and want before they are ready to move on to the next version. Not everyone wants X1 improved and fixed but I know a lot of people who do.

Cakewalk has no responsibility to make any statement about X1, but it should be blindingly obvious there will be no X1e...the engineers are all working in X2...as they should.

No piece of software in any space is feature complete, bug free and devoid of issues... So if X1 as it is is of no use to you and preventing you making music then simply buy something else...

then engineers of course ditched X1e in favour of developing your stellar ideas in user intelligence testing and a subscription platform... all current users who passed the intelligence test have already been notified. :D

That just means we're getting more information about X2 at the end of the month, not the product. X2 will be an upgrade, not an update.

@pjfarr... an informative update on the next version by end of August. As for X1, it's just a sitting duck until X2 arrives. We did get 4 updates, so 5 was probably pushing it unless they extended X1's life cycle 6-12 more months but that would mean no incoming revenue for their flagship DAW. They've always release something each year so next year will most likely be X3 because the Expanded thing was only a one time affair. And all those folks who want more features and enhancements out of X2... a long with guaranteed bug fixes that derived from X1... Cakewalk is smart and won't roll out everything at once for the sake of future version releases and for them to keep making money to stay in the game. That's why X1e was never green lit because they already knew X2 was going to be released in Oct. or Nov. which surprised a lot of us because we didn't see it coming, especially the 1st of August. So it really is goodbye to X1 and hello to X2. But X2 will be bigger and better than what X1e would have been so I'm looking forward to it. A Paid for Update is better than a FREE update anyway.

Shoot. Here I was thinking we were getting one last update before the arrival of X2. Aw well, thanks for setting me straight.

Put me in the camp of just wanting an app that works as advertised and would rather CW focused on fixing the bugs (some that have even been around since the Pro Audio days) rather than coming up with still more bells and whistles. Jesus, how many "features" does one need to produce a good song?

I kinda resent buying a product that's promoted to do this and that and then after installing it find out it doesn't quiiiite do this and that without crashing or causing some other headache—only to find out I now have to shell out more $$$ for a whole new version just to get the things I wanted out of X1.

I can't see me going for X2. I just upgraded to X1 from SPE5 in May, love it in spite of the many headaches, and will likely stick with it for a while.

I was told (by customer support 5 months ago) to "Stay tuned and update is in the works". This was regarding all of the Screwed up features of X1 D. (fastbouncing timecode based plugins (antares, waves, gtr rig, etc., dragging midi fx, deleting clips with midi fx, nudging in multilane PRV, exporting reverb tails at the front of song mixes, transient detection of bounced clips, plugin delay compensation) I've tried to keep quiet except for helping those with problems, but after talking to customer support yesterday I'm pissed. I was given the impression yesterday that there wouldn't be any more updates. Apparently Cakewalk Lies!!! All of this time I've been 'Staying tuned' for an update that was NEVER in the works. You shouldn't have to have a paid upgrade to fix what was broken in X1d. I even reported to others with similar problems that Cake said to stay tuned. Well I'm calling you on it Cake ---- BULL****!!!

what alot of folks precieved as a fix to broken things in x1 i took as free  upgrades from cakewalk and very thankfull for them.
the only so called patch that was released was to fix autosnap, the rest were improvements to the customer and free udates.
cant get those with pro tools.
and i never, ever heard anyone say "stay tuned".
im hear alot just like you and thats the first ive heard of it.

can you copy/paste that quote here so we can see it?

maybe you were confusing it with stay tuned for other type of news.

I'm speaking mainly of the bugs/problems specifically brought on by the X1 d patch. And "Stay tuned..." came in a private email directly to me from Cake cust support. Not supposed to copy/paste private emails. And this was in direct correspondence concerning X1 d Not fastbouncing timecode/tempo based plugins.

    Dear Michael,

I took the liberty to read the correspondence you had with the technical support rep.

The tech was referring to a Melodyne Editor patch and linked you directly to Celemony's forum.

There is no reference to a X1e or any SONAR patch for that matter in the e-mail dated May 14.

    Best Regards,
    Seth

A lot of people had the impression that there was going to be an X1e because forum members first brought it up and the fact that X1d didn't fix all of the bugs and even introduced new bugs. Cakewalk was pretty hum about X1 after X1d's release because we all know now that nothing further was in the works for X1. Should there have been some sort of bulletin or communication to let us know that X1d was the very last update for X1? Yes, I think there should have been because they did it for the last version. But, they most likely decided not to so more people can upgrade to X1 and be under an impression more updates will follow. This worked in their favor because they can keep promoting X1 and not worry about customers knowing that they ditched the program for a new version. 5 months after that last update, we get adverts and confirmation there will be a X2. By now, for me at least... X1e was created by forum members and Cakewalk never made mention or gave us any confirmation there will be an X1e.

skylightron: "I think a lot of us want those X1 bugs that were reported fixed for this very version and not for it to be fixed in just X2." Words! I still have problems with X1d. I think it's irresponsible not to create a more stable program before launching a new expensive upgrade especially when the the first versions of X1 were more or less catastrophes http://njnnetwork.com/201...-ready-for-prime-time/ I have used Sonar since version 1.2. If history reapts itself I will abandon Sonar and probably turn to Reaper or Cubase.

Let's get this straight, this was after over a month of correspondence over this issue regarding melodyne, antares, waves, gtr rig....All of which fastbounced properly in X1c and 8.53, then were UNABLE to be fastbounced in X1d. Very Clearly a Cakewalk issue. the issue the rep stumbled on was the melodyne memory resource leak, which he pointed out Wasn't the issue I was having. This issue I and Many others are having with fastbouncing is an X1 d issue. Also, when your Cakewalk tech support tells you in response to Tech support case of Cakewalk software causing troubles tell you to 'Stay tuned because it loos like an update is in the works', one can only assume the company that screwed it up to begin with is speaking of an update on Cakewalks end as the melolyne memory issue didn't affect me, but SOnar's timecode/tempo Problem introduced in X1d DOES and HAS since March. I've been calling and emailing since March. No fastbouncing makes this product run at half mast. Support the Professionals, Please!!! It's not even about the $. It's about Cakewalk taking responsibility for where they are coming up short and not delivering the full product as described and previously used. X1's development came to an end in March. From April to the end of October (which is the very end of X1's life cycle) would be about 7 months. Cakewalk, if they wanted to could have released one more patch but they switched focus over to X2 after March. And the reality is... They don't care about X1 anymore from the development side of things. X1 is a finished and done project. There's about 2 months left in X1's life cycle before X2 is released. They still can if they wanted to - release one more patch whether it be a quick fix or a full update but I highly doubt that will happen.
