IK Philharmonik Not Recognized in 64 bit X1.

I have several 32 bit products from IK and others installed on my 64 bit W7 system and all are easily managed and work fine with X1. EXCEPT, I just loaded IK's Philhamonik (v 1.1.1), and while it works in another 32 bit daw, X1 will will not recognize it. I have the X1 plugin manager/options set to scan the folder with the Philharmonik .dll (same folder as Sample Tank, which works fine in X1), but can fine no mention of Philharmonik in the manager. EXCEPT that is does appear in the VST Audio Effects - (???) In another post about this, there was mention of the bitbridge and IK products. I don't know much about how the bitbridge works, but I'm under the impression that it is automatic, nothing for me to do. Is that right? I've uninstalled and re-installed Philharmonik - no help. Any solutions or suggestions for me to remedy this? Thanks so much.

Try using JBRIDGE and setting Cakewalk Plug in Manager to use JBridge rather than Bitbridge for the plug in....

Jbridge has solved alot of my 32 bridge woes.....

It can be bought for a very small price (About 30 bucks or something)

Hope this helps.

In plugin manager select philharmonic in the centre window then options where you can access the plugin settings. There select to run as a synth. Somehow SONAR is seeing it as an fx. I'm not at my SONAR right now but will get back later today with more precise details if you haven't been able to get there from my approximate explanation.
When you say that it works in other 32bit daws I assume that you are using the 32 bit version of SONAR in which case Bitbridge is not an issue.
Telling us you are using Win 7 x64 does not however tell us SONAR 32 or 64 bit.

I have Philhamonik running just fine with Sonar X1 64 using bitbridge. The version is 1.1.2 though.
In Plugin Manager the path shows as-----
c:\program files (x86)\steinberg\VSTplugins\Philharmonik.dll (default installation path, I left as)

But, as Mudgel suggested, it may be selected to run as an fx. In the field named- Plug-in Properties-the box-Configure as Synth is the one checked.

Hi,
I remember having an issue when installing Miroslav on my Win 7 64 for use in 8.5.3. I am now running X1 and Miroslav is working fine.

When I installed Miroslav, it was installed here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IK Multimedia\Miroslav Philharmonik

I have my VST scan folders set to the 2 cakewalk vst folders:
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins
& C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins

In order to get the Miroslav to work, I needed to copy 2 files into the (x86) cakewalk vst folder:
Philharmonik.dll
& Philharmonik.ini

The dll file could be found in your Miroslav folder. The ini is a configuration file I believe I found online some where (i didn't have it anywhere in the Miroslav install folders).
This is what is inside the ini file (copy this and save it in wordpad with the name Philharmonik.ini):

Hope this helps.

Hi there dfp.
I have the same issue with Miroslav Philharmonik. It works fine as a standalone product, but when I load it in Sonar X1 64 bit  Windows 7 64 bit, it just says, Failed to insert soft synth. The synth may not be properly installed.

Now I have tried everything under the sun. Started Sonar as Admin, tried the above fix with no luck. Someone please help. Everything is working fine in standalone mode, all the instruments work.

Thanks in advance, Tones..

One option is to install Sonar in 32-bit. You can have both 32 and 64 bit installed at the same time.

Hi all, fixed! I installed Sonar X1 32bit, loaded up Philharmonik, and it worked! So it is a 32/64 bit issue. Well, now I've got that fixed, I guess a little runaround I will have to use is, put down my strings in Philharmonik in 32bit Sonar, convert them to audio files, then import the audio files into Sonar 64 for the rest of my projects, what do people think?

Thanks Dave for the help!

If it is fixed, why the bump? There are 32bit plug-ins that do not work in a 64bit host. When BitBridge does not work some use JBridge and get good results. Ultimately bridging tech is a temporary solution while the vendors update plug-ins to 64bit. Yes, that means that some plug-ins will get left behind. The only solution for using those plug-ins is the one you have already employed, using the 32bit host.

Bear in mind that, plugin issues aside, a project created in Sonar-32 can be opened in Sonar-64 and vice versa.  I get the impression that you believe otherwise.

I've been using Philharmonik since Sonar 7. I ran into the same problem when I purchesed X1. I'm now on X3 and I STILL havn't been able to fix the problem. But I know the responsibility of the problem is in IK media. No cakewalk. They've yet to make a 64 bit update.

Two people here have been able to get it working with a 64-bit OS, and one of them specified 64-bit Sonar with BitBridge, so it can work. If the reset and rescan doesn't work, check out the comments about where the DLLs and related files live

I had a similar problem in SONAR X3  on my end and the fix was very simple
( bear in mind this may be of absoluty no  help to you whatsoever )
it turns out that Philharmonic installed the dll's in a  X 86 VST folder that I didn't have SONAR set to scan ..
in my case the Philharmonic dll's  wound up in my SONY X 86 VST folder
I knew something was up when I had the fully operational synth available in SONY Acid Pro...
once I pointed my SONAR plugin manager to scan  that folder and did a fresh scan everything worked out fine
it scanned my Philharmonic , Sampletron , and Sampletank ….
all are working fine  in SONAR X3 64 bit using the bit bridge
good luck I hope you sort it out ,

All my IK vst didn't not work well with X1/X2 64 bit. With X3 that improvs. It works 90% of the time. So when I compose with Miroslav I pretty much stick to 32 bit Sonar. I had preordered Sample Tank 3 (64 bit) in order for my Miroslov Philharmonic to work in 64 bit Sonar. Of cause ST3 has 30 Gigs of other sound and key switching for some Miroslav patches.

Registered Miroslav and ST2 users can still preorder ST3 for 99USD before it's release in July.

Re: IK Philharmonik Not Recognized in 64 bit X1. 2014/06/28 01:53:28 (permalink)
I've got Philharmonic and SampleTank working in a 64 bit environment as well.
As Kenny noted, be sure the dll in in the scan path for Sonar.
I fought with SampleTank for a while. It would scan, and show up in the VST list, but I would get the "not properly installed message when I attempted to insert it. Turns out the problem was apparently related to UAC.
My solution:
Run the IK plug-ins as admin.
Find the SampleTank.exe file. I installed it to its default location, which was C: ProgramFiles(x86)/IK Multimedia/SampleTank 2.5.
Right click>Properties>Compatibility. Check the Run as Administrator box.
The dll is in Program Files(x86)/Cakewalk/Vstplugins.
I installed Philharmonic the same way, and both function normally.

I have not had any issues using philharmonic in 64 bit X3 and have not needed JBridge. I just installed it and it worked so I can't be too helpful on trouble shooting but there should be a resolution.

Re: IK Philharmonik Not Recognized in 64 bit X1. 2015/07/13 20:20:31 (permalink)
I'm going nuts with this.
I ran Miroslav in Windows 7, 64 bit, Sonar X3e for a year. No problems at all, no bit bridge, no JBridge, easy.
Computer crash. New computer. Nightmare.
I upgraded: Windows 8.1, 64 bit, also took the opportunity and upgraded to Sonar Platinum.
I think I finally have everything (that I really need, anyway) working.
Except Miroslav.
Tried installing in compatibility mode.
Tried installing in Programs (86) vst, in regular Programs folder vst, in the default IK media folder.
Tried copying the dll and ini files into different folders (as suggested above).
I checked my scan paths and I am scanning everything that Miroslav shows up in.
Uninstalled and re-installed this so many times, I can do it in my sleep.
I contacted IK Multimedia, and they were useless, just telling me to run as administrator. I replied to them, but my expectations are low.
At this point, I would have been better off just wasting more money and buying another program.
I'm disgusted.
Any help, please?

If you ran Miroslav in X3e without BitBridge, you must have been running the 32bit version of X3e. The plug-in is 32bit and requires a bridge to run in 64bit hosts.

By default installing SONAR Platinum using the Command Center will install 64bit SONAR. To run 32bit IK software in 64bit SONAR requires SONAR to run as administrator. The other option is to manually run the SONAR installers and install the 32bit version of SONAR.

It was definitely running in 64 bit, so I guess I must have been using BitBridge (I'm guessing now that that happens automatically).

You probably already know this, but did you do a VST reset AND re-scan, and install the latest IK version from their web site?

Yes, reset and re-scan and I went back to the website and I have the only version that I know of--as far as I know, it hasn't been updated in years.

I have it to the point where Sonar is seeing it listed under VST 2 as 32 bit.

It even appears to load, and for a second the welcome screen pops up, then quickly goes away.  If I try to call up the properties and GUI by double clicking, or clicking properties icon, Sonar freezes and crashes.

Not sure if this will be of any use to you Jones082, but if you happen to have Sampletank 3 (which is 64bit), the Miroslav library can be loaded into it as a legacy instrument thus avoiding 32bit woes altogether.

Thanks-but as far as I know, it won't work with free version and I can't see dropping another $100 just to get something that I already paid for to function. Is there anything else free that I could load the library into?

Not that I know of. ST3 is a huge improvement on ST2.5 so you would be getting that as well:)

It was working for me, but its now stopped. It was sometime ago I last used it in Sonar so I am not sure at which point it stopped working. I have just tried using JBridge and that seems to work. even though I got an error message. I need to play around a bit more when I have some spare time.

You can get a demo of JBridge to see if it solves the issue for you.

Following the 2 threads attentively 'cause I was about to push the button when I thought I'd check the forum for issues . I'll review after a night's sleep.

Cheers  for everyone's input.
