Sonar X2 Vid: R-Mix Demo
Pretty cool. Definitely some creative possibilities there. Sonar X2: R-Mix edit: Updated correct link. Keep forgetting this forum works a bit differently than others.

Cool! So its a VST Plugin! Extra cool! Is it bound to Sonar? Is the shape type/center/radiusX,Y automatable? This is all I ever wanted after first hearing about R-Mix!

Gee, that gets rid of noise really well. Definitely going to be a useful addition- seems very instantaneous and glitchless also which is cool.

Seth Perlstein [Cakewalk ] Here's a blog post about R-MIX SONAR ... http://blog.cakewalk.com/sonar-x2-feature-peek-r-mix-sonar-video/#more-9587 Also, yes, all parameters of R-MIX SONAR are fully automatable. There's bound to be something creative done with this in the upcoming webinar ... SP but is it restricted for use in Sonar only? and can the Shape (position, type, size x/y) be automated?

Seth Perlstein [Cakewalk ] Updated the link ... http://blog.cakewalk.com/sonar-x2-feature-peek-r-mix-sonar-video/ Yes, the shape is automatically as are all the controls in R-MIX SONAR, something that's not possible with the standalone version. And yes, R-MIX SONAR can only be used in SONAR. SP Thanks Seth for being around here and answering questions! Missing automation of the shape is why I didn't buy the standalone. Glad I'm able to in Sonar! Looking forward to the webinar!

I wonder if that bubble can be used for mid-side stuff to clear out the center? If so, this could be an very valuable tool. I like that you can make swirling effects.

Looks very interesting. Has potential. Noise reduction seems nice, also heard what sounded like modulation and filter effects. Probly be nice with mobile recorders like H4n. Possibly fix rogue snares or cymbals or obnoxious guitars that would otherwise ruin a stereo recording.

I sure hope this isn't true: File import and export is limited to 44.1kHz or 48kHz and only 16-bit.

Dear folks at Cakewalk, I wonder if this is possible with r-mix. I'm guessing it will depend on the source material but if you've been able to do something similar in your testing that would help me evaluate whether it would be useful for me to return to the Sonar fold (last update was Sonar 7) I have old digital stereo recordings of my band doing songs we never formally recorded (3 piece rock - bass, drums, guitar plus vox). The drum performances are solid and now the drummer lives on the opposite coast. I would like to take these stereo recordings and isolate the individual drum parts enough via r-mix so I could get a hit that could then be replaced by aptrigga ot slate trigger. Essentially, my ultimate goal is to get a usable drum track that I can build a song from. So basically, i would duplicate the stereo track 6 times or so. One track one i would try to isolate the kick, then use the isolated kick to trigger a kick drum sample. Next the snare, etc. Pipe dream or possibility? Thanks!

Haha, I was about to ask the very same thing... I have a similar situation with some old demo's that weren't mixed well (the multitrack files were sadly lost due to a hard drive crash years ago).... I would like to isolate the kick and snare, apply some add EQ and compression, etc, then mix them back in with the stereo tracks so they are more prominent.
