Request for individual preset options for ProChannel Modules
Forgive me if I am missing something here. I know you can save and load ProChannel presets, but as I understand it, that preset is for the complete setup of a ProChannel strip. So for instance, if I want to save a current strip that has the QuadCurve, Concrete Limiter and Breverb modules in it, the saved preset will save that configuration of ProChannel modules. What I would like to be able to do is, for an individual module, say the QuadCurve for instance, save its settings to a preset file. At the moment I have to resort to the old fashioned method of making notes of my settings, which for some plug-ins can be a bit of a pain. I hope I missing something and that you can do this already, but from what I have read about ProChannel presets in the X2 Reference Guide it is not possible. How does everyone else deal with this. Admittedly, there are not a lot of parrameters in some of the modules, and if I knew what I was doing, like a proper engineer should, I would quickly be able to dial in my required settings for any given situation. But I'm not a proper engineer, just a bedroom hobbyist, and I've gotten used to using presets over the years, either ones tha I have saved myself, or out of the box presets to get me started. This is not an aggressive request, more a nice to have I suppose, but I thought I'd ask around the forum before deciding to put in an official feature request. cheers andy

I'm so glad to see your post about this important issue as I have been having to find a way to work around it since I just jumped from SP6 to X2. The current preset behaviour in which the entire ProChannel is affected when loading a preset can be limiting and I think more and more users will be annoyed by this shortcoming. I do want to say though that with X2 there is so much that is right and very little to find fault with, so kudos to all the Cakewalk crew for that! I have a folder full of QuadCurve presets that I took the time to painstakingly match to the various settings on a hardware API 550A eq. The kludgy work around I've been employing in order to use those presets is to load one in to an adjacent tracks ProChannel and then manually copy the knob settings to the desired PC strip. It works but it's a nuisance to have to do it this way. The capability to load/save presets for individual ProChannel modules would be a very worthwhile feature and I hope it will be implemented ASAP.

Thanks for your thumbs up on that issue skiffcapt. I'm also with you 100 percent that there is so much right with X2. I did a similar jump to you. I went from SP6 to X1 in the summer, so I've only just scratched the surface of X1 before X2 was released. If you're anything like me you must be really impressed with the way things have moved on since SP6? I'm now laptop based and I'm amazed how I am managing with my 15.6" laptop screen and the way you can dock windows and easily hide/show the various elements. I hope you enjoy the rest of your experience :-)

I think the whole idea of the pro channel is to emulate the same experience as working at a pro desk with the effects exposed. Now with that said I do think it should be possible if you wanted to just tweak the EQ and turn off any other effects you could save just the EQ settings and ignore all other effects untill you decide to turm them on and save that as your preset. Also cake has set up a preset exchange with Cake made and user made presets for you to check out. here

Please advise - thanks.

I don't have the time to fire up the daw to find the folder where the presets are stored, as I am getting ready to go to work. Hope someone will jump in till I can return.

I believe I requested this as soon as the PC was given to us... I often find myself in a position where I've already adjusted some devices to my needs and decide to add another device.... Currently I must then do the tweaks for that new device manually for using a preset would wipe out all the other device settings.... So even tho I always tweak devices to the specific needs, many of the settings are common enuf where it saves time to load the preset, and tweak it from there thus saving a number of extra clicks.... Please... If everyone logs into the Feature Request Reporter and asks for this, it may come sooner rather than later as I expect it will be given to us eventually... http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/FeatureRequest.aspx Keni

Keni you did a good job of describing the situation I find myself in frequently: I often find myself in a position where I've already adjusted some devices to my needs and decide to add another device.... Currently I must then do the tweaks for that new device manually for using a preset would wipe out all the other device settings.... I visited the Feature Request page Keni linked to and X2 Producer hasn't been added to the Product dropdown list yet. Do you guys think it's worthwhile submitting this FR now considering it may wind up in the X1 bin with the possibility of no further development planned?

With one "source" track set the way you want, just ctrl + drag from the EQ plot in Console View to your "destination" track Like this:

On one of my systems, they are in D:\SONAR X2 Producer\ProChannel Presets Haven't checked the other one yet.

Thank you very much for that Jonesey of Bristol. That will work for me some of the time. Those API eq presets I mentioned are for one frequency band per preset though, such as "5k +9dB", "100hz -12dB", etc. Do you agree that being able to drag-and-drop presets from the browser would be the ultimate solution to this? That would certainly cut down on the added clutter that would result from having the preset window and associated buttons in each module. I was honestly a little surprised that effects presets weren't part of the browser's functionality out of the box.

If you haven't done so already, fill in a feature request. http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/featurerequest.aspx The more people that ask for it, the higher up the priority list it goes

Hey Jonesey, I would never have thought of that, being able to drag from the little QuadCurve window. That's fantastic, and thanks :-) And another good idea skiffcapt, dragging from the browser.
