I am in Uk and installed from discs, ordered through CW store. Paid the few quid extra to aviod giving anyone other than Cake my serial.... Got the box last Friday.

Cool, sounds like that was the quickest way then. How are you finding it so far?

Still, I'm happy to let other people play with the bugs for a while and I quite like to support British shops as well as Cakewalk, and give less money to courier companies!

Hopefully I'll get mine soon, I just checked again and the Et Cetera site says:

"As at 10th October, Roland UK have informed us that the boxed versions of Sonar X2
are expected to be shipped to Et Cetera on 11th October"

So I guess I should receive mine sometime next week.

The Et Cetera website now says:

"Shipping from Et Cetera on Monday 15th October!"

Can't be long now then.

It certainly is, just not sure how long the postman / courier will take to get it to me!  :)

Re:Sonar X2 in the UK (boxed copy - upgrade) 2012/10/17 05:04:13 (permalink)
Mine arrived yesterday and I can confirm that my Cakewalk store account now shows:

"DSF Symphonic Strings HD - Free with SONAR X2 Producer purchase" with a download link.

Although it took so long for the registrations (X2, Rapture and the automatic free DSF download) to appear in my account (after filling in the online registration form) that I emailed customer services, so I don't know whether time or their intervention was responsible.

I didn't bother registering Dimension Pro again as it seems like the same version already registered with X1, what have others done about Dim Pro?

Amusingly, the DSF Strings show with a date of 10/10/2012 which is the same date my SONAR X1 Welcome Kit 2 etc. now show (those automatic entitlement ones seem to do their own thing, don't they).

I'm looking forward to the Content Club goodies, it's a feel-good idea:  http://www.cakewalk.com/p...ucer/content-club.aspx

Hope you've all got yours now too.  :)

Mine arrived yesterday from Et Cetera

Great site! Great price, brilliant communications. Will definitely use next time. Very painless.

Didn't get a chance to install last night :(

I can't see the DSF strings download link in my account however?

I haven't installed it yet either, I just wanted to get it registered straight away for the DSF freebie.

If the DSF strings download doesn't show up in your account, it might be worth an email to customer services.  Are your X2 and Rapture registrations showing?

I think it should follow automatically from X2 registration though, as mine has acquired the same date (10 October) as my old X1 freebies are showing.

You should also see new registrations for any X1 Pro Channel modules which you bought separately, such as the Leveling Amplifier, Concrete Limiter etc.

The DSF Strings Expansion pack link here in the US for some people also wasn't showing up - there are some other threads about that out there.

Cakewalk has acknowledged that they have some sort of issue there that they are working on.

I found instant satisfaction through a phone call - they quickly generated a download link for me while I was on the phone and sent the email to me.  The whole call took less than 10 minutes - probably closer to 5.

Also, Dim Pro in X2 is still version 1.5, so if 1.5 is installed already then there is no need to install it again.

Hope that helps,

Bob Bone

Hmm, that's weird then, my PC2A still has the old date:

Ah, maybe it was my email to customer services that did the trick then, who knows.

I may well install Dim Pro again (as I now have CDs) but I guess there's no point in registering it again as they are both version 1.5 (I'll just use the reg code I already have).

Thanks

Jackie

Not sure why you want to install Dim Pro again, since it hasn't changed.

I just thought a fresh install of everything might be a good, uncluttered thing but maybe I won't bother.

Nothing from my X2 purchases are showing.

Would retail shop advise Cakewalk I have purchased X2?

Am I being a bit dim? I can't work out how Cake would know I have bought X2?

Use the same email address as your Cakewalk Store account.

If the new registrations haven't appeared in your account tomorrow (along with your DSF download link), send customer services an email with the online form here:

edit:
You'll want to make sure you get it all sorted this month so that you can get the free DSF Strings (and then the other Content Club bits and pieces that start from next month).

I've always downloaded before. (apart from my first venture into Sonar with Sonar 6 HS...time flies)

 Thanks again Jackie!

from your registration.

and it will only show up in your e-store account if you used the same email address when you registered it.

also, give it some time after registration.  it took about a week before mine showed up in the e-store account after I registered it.

All sorted now. Links appeared next day!

 Nice.

Installed X2 last night, had a play around. seems fine.

Opening an automation track lane in X2, from a project created in X1, resulted in about 20 lanes opening up in X2. bit odd but I guess once I start natively working in X2, should get these issues.

would have bought the box from the UK  *IF* I'd have known ..did make it look like DSF strings offer was only open to download folk and exclusive (it was either that or the box it looked like) .. not impressed , sneaky marketing.. sure I'm not the only one.

not buying direct next year IF that's the carry on. I'd rather get the box *AND* the strings for less.

well it just looked like it would be exclusive to people who PRE-bought only from them. If I had known otherwise , I'd have saved another £25 (i.e. the box).. which I didn't buy , because a maximum of £15-£18 should have covered that (unless dvd's are magically really expensive now to create)

Re:Sonar X2 in the UK (boxed copy - upgrade) 2012/10/19 18:23:31 (permalink)
I agree, it was really misleading.

Customers want to know what options they have, and they want those options to be communicated clearly.

It seems that the pre-sale "bonus" was just access to the download link a day early (which isn't a bonus that would particularly attract me, but clearly appealed to some), but it wasn't clear at the time that the DSF Strings pack would still be available post-release.  I don't recall the cut-off date being very clear either, but maybe that was just me.

At the time it seemed that the DSF strings pack was the pre-sale bonus but then it transpired that it was the early adopter bonus, available to download customers until the end of September and to purchasers of physical stock from third parties until the end of October... except the store page I just checked for the X2 Pro upgrade still lists the DSF Strings pack as if it is available for download customers at the moment (so I have no idea whether it still is or not).

It would have been more straightforward if Cakewalk had just issued a statement that any X2 Pro registration before the end of October would qualify for the DSF Strings pack, then people would have had an opportunity to sort out their options and cashflow.

I like the freebie for early adopters (and I like the Content Club idea), but it was not communicated clearly enough.
