LAFF @ CRG... that will work!! That reminds me of the old joke about how to train your wife right... take the first meal she cooks, throw it out in the yard, and say, "you expect me to eat that"?.. or the one where the farmer picks up the mail order bride. The mule balks, the gets out and hits the mule with a 2x4... etc until he says, "that's three", and shoots the mule. The wife says, "don't you think that was a bit harsh", the farmer says, "That's one...". Still, a great idea for Mooch... not for me, laff. J

I'm kidding of course. Mooch needs to deal with someone else in his space now. He's going to have a tough time explaining that putting the studio in the garage will ruin expensive equipment due to temperature extremes. I don't think "shine my Bass beech" is going to work.

LOL. I was kidding too but it is funny... a southern California garage is a little different from a Chicago garage. Bapu probably suggested this when Mooch was in the head. hehe J

My studio is in my living room. I just say it's part of the entertainment system. You can have TV, computer, or a live recording event. sometimes it convinces them.

I think the question for The Chosen One's Slave/Chew Toy is, "Do you like living indoors?" If not, go ahead and argue your point. Oh, and insinuating in any way that there may be some subject in the entire realm of human thought in which she might be slightly uninformed, [shudder], will have Dire Consequences. In some cases, men have actually had their ears curl inward into their skull in a vain attempt to escape the shock wave. Some have found that male pattern baldness is where the scalp was ripped away following such a statement. Some wished it was only their scalp. Sometimes, you brace for the impact only to find nothing but a cool breeze. That's when you know it's coming later...when you least expect it...when it will do the most damage. Good luck...

Hmmm..........pitching a tent in a garage....in Chicago no less......(lived there for 45 yrs...not wanting to go back) Chosen one......Hmmm......not wanting to live single...........but saying yes dear so that you can live indoors.........Hmmm.......I bet the dog does not have to make these decisions.........Hmm....I bet he gets his own space on the bed no questions asked!...... Hmmm.......you get a choice..........indoor husband........outdoor husband...........hhmmmm...married......single......... tough decision.... glad I do not have to make that one........................................ Why not ask if you can do an addition above the garage for your studio.....include a kitchenette, bathroom, firdge and micro....this way when the dog gets to sleep in your spot in bed you "Have" a place to go..... Just saying.. Clifford

What you need to do is plug in an alliance with "The Chosen One" and get her input as she's the interior Designer so that you won't end up being some Transient Nomad just aimlessly wondering the streets. You can do this for a mere $79.00 with promo code spltd4079 (in the software forum). HTH

There's a Universal Economic Principle at work here. When negotiating the amount of funds available for your use to construct, repair, enhance, furnish, equip, and/or fumigate your studio, it's easy to overlook the downside. Whatever you spend on your studio, she will get to spend at between 10 to 100 times that amount on whatever. In addition, your expenditure is a one time event, whereas she will run a lifetime tab. Furthermore, during any future conversation, on any subject, she is free to make the point that she allowed you to waste all that money on your studio. It's an inescapable fact.

Hello greetings from the "Chosen One" the tent was a idea - apparently not a good idea - for making it easier to keep musicians warm and providing a cozy ambiance. Actually, his recording gear, computer, keyboard, electric drum kit, and 6 guitars (1 bass is mine) are in our bedroom with us and 2 dogs and 2 cats. I'm not sure musicians can fit in there too lol its not a mansion more like a clown car. On a side note, I apologize on behalf of my gender it seems that some of you have been treated very badly by eeeeeeevil ladies. I'm not one of them your beloved mooch is in good hands - very good hands

Hello Chosen One, why don't you two put the studio in the living room and make it part of the entertainment system? Since you're both musicians I'm sure you know what adverse temps can do to musical equipment. Music is a social thing and your new husband is a musician, so music is now a big part of your life. Make it easy for both of you.

Mooch4056 Hello greetings from the "Chosen One" the tent was a idea - apparently not a good idea - for making it easier to keep musicians warm and providing a cozy ambiance. Generally, when someone mentions "Tent", it equates to sleeping outside and of course no one really wants to see our Mooch trying to read the manual in setting up a tent. In order to keep these musicians warm & cozy, why not give them sleeping bags instead? (This way, your "guests" will feel welcomed, yet won't overstay their welcome ) BTW, Welcome to our Warm & Cozy CH!!
