IE9 here.  EVERY time I post to this forum it locks up and I have to kill it with Task Manager and open a new session to check if my post made it.  I don't have this with ANY OHER forum I frequent.  Ergo, this issue is here not with browser software.

My stuff

Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600 @ 3.4GHz, 4 cores, 8 threads, 16GB RAM.
OS & Programs drive: 240GB SSD
Data drives: 1 x 1TB drive RAID mirrored, plus extra 1TB data drive
Windows 10 Home 64 bit
Cakewalk by BandLab 64 bit, Studio One 3,
Band In A Box 2016, Ozone 8
+ too many other plugins

Face it, this forum SUCKS. We shouldn't have to perform browser voodoo to use a simple *forum*. It's a forum. It's not rocket-surgery. Even if it works perfectly, it still sucks because of all the annoying drop-downs and the disappearing search bar. I use Firefox because it suppresses tooltips, a must with Facebook. I should not have to use a separate browser for this forum. I am only here because I have issues with X2, so a broken forum just makes it more annoying.

I've never once had a problem using either IE or Crazy Browser since this forum came about. No matter what machine or OS I used, it's always been fine for me other than when the board itself seems to go on the blink and we can't even connect to it for a minute or so. Thankfully, that never seems to happen to me when I post a message. But there are times when I click on the forum link in favorites to get here...and it says "Waiting for a response". Other than that, never a problem.

That Crazy Browser is pretty cool for those that may like IE yet hate how it works. It's like a super charged version of IE in my opinion complete with a kill flash button if need be. www.crazybrowser.com

It's free and is really small at under 800 kb. A nice alternative that I've been using for years. :) Sorry to hear there are people really having issues with this. :(

Thanks Everybody...

From the info I see here it appears that I can upgrade to FF 15 and use IE Tab and I should be fine...

To respond to a few of the messages:

I don't care for Chrome...

I've not been able to install two versions of FF simultaneously here... I must be doing something wrong as this would be the best option for me...

Now to discover if FF 15 will install on this old win2k machine I use for web-work! ;-)

I hope to be messaging here again later... ;-) (not graphic smileys work fine for me)

Thanks Again To Everyone for chiming in to help... I'll bet that right after I finish updating all the machines, Cakewalk will update the forum! ;-)

I think it's a bit heavy handed to say that... the forum itself is excellent and allows us to communicate withe each other and Cakewalk quite well... The problem being with the forum software needing update or replacement... In such a size company as this it can be more difficult than others and tho I would love to see this happen, I'd much rather The Bakers be working on Sonar! ;-)

BTW... This is my first message using FF 15.0.1 and IETab V2 (4.x.x.x.x) and it seems to be working fine so far... Quote appeared and I'm working as usual... We'll see if/how it posts! ;-)

Oh and If you hadn't guessed.... It will not install on win2k as it requires a minimum of XP SP2

Thanks!

Use Chrome for this forum.

Simples.
I tried it, it doesn't work.

Not so Simples after all.

Erm, yes it does. What do you think I'm using right now?

It does paragraphs.
And text effects
It doesn't work on every system ... it doesn't work on mine ... and if you read the forums, there's plenty of posts stating Chrome does not work on other people's systems besides mine ...

I've never seen one post stating Fire Fox 3.6 doesn't work ...

It's not a big deal ...

If ya can't read the forums and determine that there is a very simple solution ... then by all means, keep on asking. It's a free and open forum.

Keni, I'm not talking about how the forum is used so much as how the forum functions. It's bloody awful. I've been around since before the Internet and I've used a lot of forums, and this one of the worst ones I've ever seen. I also say that as a long-time Cakewalk user. I'm not here to troll, just to give my honest feedback. If I have to use a different browser just to use a forum, then the forum is clearly broken. A company of this size should have the best forum possible, not some broken junk that adds more broken to their broken X2 software. I'm so annoyed by X2 that I am actively searching to replace it with the competition, right now. Almost everything I use in X2 breaks in some way. X2 has gotten bloated and buggy and this forum is just more fail (not the people, the forum). I would be embarrassed to have a forum like this if I were running Cakewalk. If there's no line-breaks, that's just more forum fail for you.

Win2K? It's 2012 man! I have a beastly 64-bit Windows 7 machine. ;) 24-cores, 48GB RAM dual Xeon, etc. Now you're really making me think this forum is the place that time forgot. No line breaks, sorry (forum's fault).

If Chrome privacy issues are a concern try SR Ware Iron.  It is based on Chrome but does no reporting.  It even defaults to Duckduckgo as search engine since google gathers so much info.  I detect no difference between it and chrome and I find it to be faster than Chrome or firefox.

Interesting...

I was very hurt by the X1 release and have spent the last 2 years finding ways of dealing with it and adjusting it (with 3rd party help)... But between these, X1 became very useable if not the fastest workflow (as with 8.5.3)... I am very pleased with the X2 release and I'm having no problems with it at all... I haven't even installed the quickfix as I'm not experiencing (yet?) any of it's issues...

I'm really sorry that X2 isn't working for you as (for the most part) it's bringing back much of the joy I've always had with Cakewalk softwwares over the years. I have yet to do any real/heavy work in it but the workflow feels much more to my liking and the updates in PRV/PC feel great!

I hope you find the problem in your system/setup as from my own testing, none of the competition beats Sonar tho some do admittedly give it a bit of run for the money... I still would not want to switch to them as they are not as good for me...

The forum software? Hah! I was against switching to it from the old newsgroup that it started as, but I very quickly have found it works just fine for me with a few issues (Search should be removed as it's more of a waste of my time than successful for me). I'm able to read/reply and browse as well as any other forum I've used... the biggest issues seem to be it's compatibility with some softwares, but there are many sites (corporate as well as small business or personal) which are optimized for one browser over another... Using one with the ability to run the other's engine invisibly when needed? Seems a nice solution... Auto-sensing this and switching automatically would be even nicer, but it's not far from that with FF15 and IETab V2...

If I remember correctly, there was a version or more of Firefox that had a similar ability built in!

Yes... It is...

I have a machine that is not far behind yours... 24 Cores? I'm running a MacPro Dual Xeon-Quad 3.2GHz, 16GB RAM under Win7Pro...

Which Xeons are you using that give you 24 Cores? the largest I know of is the 8-core which would give you 16 cores... Unless you have three 8-core processors? Or do you mean with hyperthreading?

My win2k machine is waht I've been using as my webmachine and GFX station as I have many (old) softwares for my graphics/cd-packaging/web-desing that work just fine (until just now!)

The machine I'm writing this from right now is a core2duo which has been my DAW all thru X1 and will remain a backup DAW while I finish the MacPro's setup (awaiting a new interface)...

For the near-future, I expect to migrate my GFX/Web machine jobs to an HP Liquid cooled Quad 3.2GHz, 4GB RAM which was an interim machine while I built the MacWindows Machine... I need another monitor to get that happening....

Do you do much quoting when responding? that was a big issue for me...

FF 15.0.1 with IE Tab seems to do the job. I just added the IE Tab addon to test quoting and it looks like it works OK
