Regarding the forum software, I seem to recall reading that Cakewalk are NOT directly responsible for it's upkeep or maintenance. The whole thing is contracted out to a 3rd party supplier/provider, so these are the people you/we should be addressing in order to air these grievances. Obviously Cake pay for its continuing use, so they must have some input into who they contract out to

Pdunford Hhhmmmmmm, Xeon cpu's. i know they should work but 30 years in IT tells me to only use them for servers, not specialist audio or graphical apps. X2 is running great on my 4gb / core duo e6850. Only minor bugs, no showstoppers or even close. Don't suppose you have a spare non Xeon machine to a fresh install on? Hi Pdunford. I have been running a SonicaX with a Quad core Zeon for about 4 years. It has been very solid, and have no issues for whihc I have not been able to find a cause. I run multiple XP and Win 7 64 partitions 1 each for general use and 1 each fo rDAW specific use. (I haven't been near the XP partions for a while, and will turn them over to Win 8 soon) Cheers Grif

millzy Somehow this thread turned from X2 is broken to the forum is broken. agreed and personally i dont come here to this forum to read/discuss give a hoot about the forum software.. it runs fine on IE and if you want to use another browser, someone somewhere here has got it to work.. after all, it is easier to search and ask than it is to create a ramblewhine. :) Back on topic (which i thingk was x2 bugs?).. anyone seen the following? 1. Auditioning audio content ..samples, loops etc.. if i am too quick to switch from one to another to another for preview player it occasionally crashes 2. Engine stopped.. preferences>midi>devices; enabling or disabling a midi device has caused occasional crash..even if the device was not used in that project

I haven't personally come across either, but I have read a few posts from others than have seen previewing crashes in the Browser. Hopefully everyone's sending them in to CW!

+1 on the thread getting hijacked into a running complaint that Firefox doesn't like the forum. It seems like they (Cakewalk) are a bit backed with things, but I DID this afternoon receive an email from them on a submitted bug. I had submitted it about 4 days ago, so that's not a bad response time. Hopefully they will be able to address most bugs for folks - I happen to like X2 so far. If somebody has had a crash or posted a whine-o-gram without submitting a ticket to Cakewalk, then they deserve every bit of suffering they are going through. It seems to me that threads that have reduced levels of product bashing seem to get the most help by the community - wouldn't be surprised if tech support worked that way too. Anyways - I hope folks remember that we are hopefully all here to help each other, and to try to get to the bottom of things that truly are bugs, so that they can get addressed as quickly as possible by the Cakewalk folks. bugs that i can think of right now (very new to X1). - mute via a key binding doesn't work right on a vsti that has 2 tracks or more (midi, audio). Haven't tried instrument tracks. If you use the mouse, yes, both the midi and audio go in and out of mute. A key binding should do the same. - the browser keeps forgetting what the preview bus is. It's even worse now than it was in Sonar8.

Having lost quite a bit of work so far using X2, I'm going back to X1 until it's more stable. The last fatal crash came about when clicking to expand the ProChannel at the end of a long editing session. X1 is unstable in its own way but slightly less so. M

Two things: 1. I have two different Mac browsers because it seems different forums work better with one or the other. For example I can't use Firefox Mac with this forum but Safari works fine. Same with some other sites and forums. 2. If you're going to switch from Sonar, switch to a program whose last major update happened six months or more ago. Then most of its bugs should have been worked out by now. When it comes out with a new version in six months, you can switch back to Sonar

Really glad it works for you Steve. It sounds like a heck of a system. Not so good for the other fella though, at the moment. I just think before he blames sonar totally and ditches it he should try it on another environment. IE system. Just a thought. You know what it's like though, even individual motherboards (of the same model) can have their 'quirks'. Be good, Paul.

Well, from the very first post the complaint was two-fold (regardless of the title) I get that people are tired of complaining about the site, but it needs to be complained about. I used to use FF a couple of years ago here and didn't have these problems. I've tried using IE and it has it's own set of problems (including a TON of crashing!) So I can understand the frustration of having a problem and not being able to communicate effectively.

Hey FBB - on the occasional crash when switching on auditioning, could there be any tails playing when you are switching? Just wondering if is wasn't 'done' with whatever you were auditioning. Bob Bone

What is wrong with using IE9? It seems to work fine IMO. I have to opt for no content flitering. Other than that, all seems well. Except, any icon will insert at the beginning of my post. IE9 crashes here nearly every time I make a post :o No, really. I still know what to do. So let's review: Some people are having problems with their browsers when trying to post issues they are having with sonar/cake stuff. Why on earth would people not understand that frustration? (using ff here because I'd like for this not to crash while posting, so sorry for the crappy punctuational conglom.

NukleoN @CowboyDan: I've been on the Internet since before there was an Internet. I've used every kind of forum you can reasonably be expected to use. I run an SMF forum (which is free). I've been on VBulletin forums. I've used them with various browsers from IE to Chrome, Firefox to well, you name it. All of them can do the most basic functions such as a carriage return (think about how basic a function this is) and being able to quote-respond. Again, this is objectively and demonstrably a FORUM ISSUE. Anything else is simply justifying a mistake. The answer is not to simply blame FF but for Cakewalk to fix the issue and test their forum better. Of course it's not just carriage-returns and an inability to quote, but BOTH. Obviously, this forum is broken. My post here will demonstrate that when I post it. As for the software, X2 did seem promising with all of its add-ons and again, I've been a fan of Cakewalk products for years. As for step-sequencing, I've always used the QWERTY keyboard to advance the step-sequencer. I never thought about using Midi but I don't even know how to do that. I like using the enter key because I can step-sequence really fast that way, especially with broken-up 16th notes. I may try turning off my Virus program. I usually try that when I have issues with Sonar but it doesn't explain the hotkeys losing their 'memory' of what I set them to, or the problems with the step-sequencer. The hotkeys I am trying to use are related to piano mode Move, Edit, Smart, etc. Without hotkeys, this process is pretty painful and I find the SMART mode to be too fiddly. I do a lot of piano-note editing. Thanks it's true - I switched from firefox to safari JUST to be able to participate in this forum without going insane.
