Beautiful song, Janet, as usual.
If you lived closer I'd be happy to message that shoulder for a couple of hours.

Janet

Thanks so much Marcus!  There are a few pianists around here that are sheer acrobats with their fingers and compositions.  That's not me, but I was hoping this would resonate with a few.  I've got about 100 up on my SC page if you want to hear more.  ;)
Already went there and I listened to some more. it all sounds great Janet!

Janet - this is just beautiful - so well done.

Sorry to hear about the shoulder - I hope it's not permanent.

I'm having surgery on my left hand on Nov. 14 to correct a dupytrens contracture. There is no permanent fix - but after a bit of rehab I'll get some more years of guitar playing.

Again - this is just a gorgeous piece of music - I just loved it.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Huh, what........oh, it's finished.....

Just kidding ! You know how much I prefer it when you get all moody and dramatic, but this is nice too, wish I could play like that. Could maybe use a little more reverb ?

Re:After All - piano solo 2012/10/27 22:26:18 (permalink)
Cortisone?  I'd never thought of that.  I wonder if that would help if this started because of an impinged nerve?

That would be some serious stretching.  Good thought.  Thanks.

I recently got a small ultra sound unit, but got tired of having to use it with my other hand...so I just rigged up a 2X4 on the wall, stapled Velcro strips on it.  So I can velcro that little thing on it...and stand there and move my shoulder up and down on it.  Took me quite awhile to dream it up, but only a few minutes to make it.  :)

Also, this is the coolest thing!  One of our very own forumites, who wishes to remain anonymous, sent me a box full of ergonomic computer gadgets...the coolest keyboard that bends any way you want it to, a stand for my laptop, a great mouse and mousepad.  It's from Goldtouch.   To say I was blown away doesn't really describe it.  :)

Oh, glad you liked the tune too.  :)

What I liked about this is, that although it's a slower tempo, there is a lot of melody happening which keeps it interesting. Nice song.

Hi, Janet,

Beautiful playing, as always, and this really has a "live" quality that make me feel like I'm sitting in the front row at a grand concert hall.

Nice work, and I hope your shoulder feels better soon!

You should rename your song,"Playing Through the Pain"
I did enjoy the changes through out the piece.
Lots of elements to this that I have not heard you use in any
of your other postings. I enjoyed the listen.

Beautiful, Janet.  Real piano, right?  It didn't put me to sleep.  I wish it did, I need some.  :-)  Beautifully done!  Crystal clear sound.  Oh, sorry about that shoulder.

OK, so Ivory is a patch?  The keyboard is not like a grand piano (acoustic) or something?  Pardon my ignorance on piano stuff.  It just sounds so , well, so much like a piano!  :-)

I missed the first version, but with the reverb you have on it now, it sounds spot on.
I thought of your longtime struggle with naming songs. After All is perfect for this piece.
This sounds like the air smells just before it snows. I love that smell.

Re:After All - piano solo 2012/11/02 23:51:04 (permalink)
Yes, Warren, Ivory is a patch, or whatever you call those things.  lol  The piano is just a lowly keyboard that I bought from Reece a few years ago.  Nice touch, but it's not a grand by any stretch of the imagination.  Ivory, on the other hand, is like swimming in chocolate. I love the sound of it.  :)  Some of the guys around here helped me tweak it the first month...I've barely touched those knobs since. :)  And unfortunately, if I played this on a real piano it wouldn't sound nearly this good because I haven't practiced it long enough to play it w/o mistakes.  :)

Thank you, Bob. :)  I should have said that Rik (Rikkie) helped me figure out that reverb.  What I had on it before, and sent him, sounded terrible, but I couldn't tell that until I heard this version.  So...he's the master of this one. :)   Funny you should mention the title...I have no idea where that came from, but it popped into my head, I figured it was good enough...and it works. :)  You know when you open up a new project...and it won't even let you open it until you name it...well, it doesn't give you much time to consider it, and that's tough if it's just an instrumental.  :)  Another silly thing about this song....I didn't play it long enough to really get it into my head, so I usually can't remember how it starts.  Then a few days ago, between classes, this cool riff came into my head.  I played it on the old piano in the hall, wrote down the notes...and on the way home started humming it...and realized it was this song.  I think I need a new riff.  :)   Anyway, thanks again. :)  You need to write more, btw.  (poetry, songs, etc.) :)
