Since others do not seem to be having a problem with it, it shows the problem is not universal and there is little point in filing a bug report If you can get together the steps that cause it I think you should definitely file a bug report even if you're the only one it affects. That's what I'd do anyway.

I've also noticed this. It seems a bit fidilly to try and get the hot spots to activate sometimes. In my experience, it has happened more often when I'm trying to slip edit to adjacent clips. Really, this should be a bread & butter, rock solid part of editing in Sonar. Alas.

That's what I'd do anyway. That is the problem... There are no repeatable steps. It either works or it doesn't. It may only do it on 1 clip in a project, or it may decide it doesn't like a track and any splits done to the track. It does it most often when there is little to no space between clips. But in the video I posted, it did it at the beginning of a track.

It can make work very frustrating when all you want to do is a simple edit and cannot get the slip edit tool to work.

Kev, it's a zoom in thing. As soon as you zoom, you'll see the option to slip edit comes back. I so hate that entire system and have the same issues as you. I can't do a thing until I zoom in more. I don't remember having this problem in past versions of Sonar. It started in X1 I believe. -Danny

In the vid I posted, all that was required was to change the zoom and slip editing worked again. My complaint is that changing the zoom does not always work and the only thing that does is to remove the fade from the clip. That was my initial problem when I started this thread. I was comping a track and had to do some splits, overlap clips and slip editing. It really got frustrating and ticked me off because all I wanted to do was simple editing and get my work done and this was slowing me way down and causing much more work. So, it was either pull hair out, or come vent and see if others were having the same issues as me. It looks like I am alone with the occasional stubborn clip and Smart Tool problem. I guess I'm glad others have not experienced the problem to the degree I have. Fortunately it doesn't happen very frequently. I will probably try cloning the track, or bouncing the track next time to see if it will get rid of whatever annomoly is there preventing slip editing. I'm going to go ahead and leave the title of this thread as "Not Solved". If I actually find a recipe that causes the problem I'll post it. For now I just want to get back to work and hope I do not run into the problem to the degree I did before.

Hmm, I'm not seeing that on this end Kev. Sorry you're having that problem bro. I DO have an issue with the slip editing having to be zoomed in which I totally hate...but I've never had a problem once I've zoomed in a bit. -Danny

Yeah... I kind of wish there was a subset of tools for slip editing and fades instead of relying on the Smart Tool or whatever hooking in where it's needed. I've spent WAY more time adjusting my zoom settings to get at stuff because of this. Maybe there is and I'm just missing something but the way things are it's like there are too many options crammed into too small a space and now with the size limit on the lanes it's even tricky zoomed fully vertical. I couldn't imagine trying to do it with a mouse as opposed to my ultra precise trackball.

I'm beginning to think that I'm seeing something different to many others. Does it not work for you how it does for me in the video I linked to?

Thanks for directing me here Kevo. It sounds like we are having the exact same issue. Though, id say it works correctly a lot less than 99% of the time. Your sig says you are running multiple monitors. I wonder if that might be the problem, as I am running 3 27" monitors in eyefinity myself.

I don't think multiple monitors is relevant. I run three and I'm not having any of the issues reported by others. Graphics card differences perhaps?

I have experienced the exact same behaviour other people describe.
I am still using X1 (purchased X2 but not in a hurry to install it as yet).
I am so dissapointed to hear this issue is still unsolved.
It is such a workflow killer.
when I read / viewed the pomotional material from X2, there was so much said about the smart tool being much better / sharper / smarter. I presumed this issue was fixed and was so looking forward to it.
It also makes no difference at my end if I zoom on the track or not. Once the smart tool has decided to edit fades, there is just no way to get it to do anything else. I have to remove the fade first.
I hope this gets addressed sometime..
