Cool, thanks for advice and links guys.

I ran a full scan with AVG last night and all appears clear. I will do a full scan of MSessentials tonight also.

You shouldn't have two Anti Viruses running on a system at the same time (ie:AVG and MSE). It can cause problems and they can conflict with each other. Dump AVG and keep MSE. The other programs I listed aren't main AVs so they can be installed alongside your main AV.

Glad you got it sorted out. Cheers.

I think it got buried with all the varying suggestions. Just saw that he was using both so I figured it should be pointed out again.

Dealing with virus and other computer critters is approached in so many different ways by most people it does tend to get confusing. Add to that all AV peddlers causing more confusion by making wacky claims (and some would believe actually creating viruses themselves to keep selling products) it's almost impossible to cut through all the white noise.

I learned the method I posted from a guy that teaches MSCE and other computer stuff to colleges. Before that I was completely lost so just stuck to AVAST and my FF add ons and hoped for the best which actually worked very well but knowing what to do IF something gets through just adds some extra peace of mind. I've never really found anything nasty on my systems in almost a decade (*touch wood*) so I must be doing something right.

Cheers.
