Damn... just now called?
Fire is supposed to be the #1 priority signal.. it goes to the head of the line. The maximum permitted time between the activation at the site, and the fire dept getting the fire call to respond is 90 seconds MAXIMUM. Longer than that is a FAIL. I would inquire as to the central station.... and change if they give an excuse that does not seem reasonable. Either they should have contacted someone at the house or send the FD to visit you.
Wait... you said push clip and you removed it and the system started to beep.....OK that is circuit supervision..... the lowest priority signal. It is not an alarm,,,, but a notification that the circuit is not functional.... you pulled the smoke head off the base. There's a small hole (very likely) on the smoke detector.... if you stick a thin screwdriver in there and push THAT will trip the alarm and THAT should result in a phone call in a few seconds. I suggest if you wish to test that to FIRST call and put your system in test. If the central station has been instructed to dispatch first on fire, the FD will show up and they will NOT be happy that you were simply testing, and depending on the town, and the FD's policy, they may actually send you a bill for several hundred to several thousand dollars for a false alarm response. Seriously....!!!!
In a house they are allowed to call the house before dispatching the FD. But 1 hour is just wrong. the house could be burned to the ground in 60 minutes. At that point...why bother?
The panel has a battery. It will last 3 to 4 years, sometimes longer, but they do go dead. Batteries Plus sells the replacements and if you have the key to the panel you can easily replace it yourself and not pay a service call..... the thing above the cupboards with antennas is probably the radio receiver for the wireless door, window, and motion detectors. Not likely a cell backup.
Hardwire smokes do not have a battery if it is part of the security system. there are wireless smokes and they do have batts. If you have 120v smokes in the house they may have batts in them.
On that church fire system... I am finding even more stuff that needs fixing as I work on it.... it seems now that all 3 of the power supplies for the bells and strobes are defective.
Oh well.....
