I notice that the 'Stable' crowd all (the ones with spec's showing anyway) seem to be using i7 chips (or the AMD equivalent) at 3.4 GHz and up. I'm really starting to lean towards my PC just struggles to handle the load. It's more than enough for the common web surfer but chokes when it's time to dig in and work. Kind of like me Mike

Almost rock solid. I say almost because it wasn't as solid as X1 was for me. I had some crashes early on that were browser related and they appear to have been fixed in X2a. Going forward it seems back to rock solid now. 64 bit all round. Haven't had a 32-bit Sonar installed since V7, never mind used one.

Kind of like me Mike There certainly must be something, I've tried 3 separate graphics cards, thinking it must be the driver, and all display the same problem. 2 nvidia and one AMD. I think I'm going to have to try a new audio interface to see if that helps. I've an old UA-25 knocking around, so I'll see if that helps. For me it's just this one problem, everything else is solid.

No Paul P you are wrong. For example, 32 bit plug-ins can't use the Multi Dock (unless wrapped in, for example j-Bridge), 64 bits can. Cheers, Jerry Edited : sorry, subject seems to have been covered since last night.

Win 7, 64 bit bit end to end. I'd say my installation is mostly solid. I do get the odd crash but there's nothing repeatable about what caused it. Reloading Sonar and going through exactly the same motions doesn't result in a crash.

I'm pretty solid. It can crash on occasion when working with midi. I have a Roland GR-20 Midi Synth and I will loop record 10-15 times through a song laying down tons of midi. Sometimes, when I have muted lanes of midi like this, it will cause a crash. Deleting or splitting the lanes into tracks usually fixes it for me.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Windows 7 64bit on an i7 3.4GHz 8GB ram,Sonar X2a no bitbridging all 64 bit plugs afaik. 'Rock solid' from X1 to X2 until X2a where it became 'totally un-useable'. After much tweaking it is 'mostly stable' What the hell happened with the X2a update I may never know?!?! Quirks include a 4-5second delay after adding ANY vsti. Screensets not switching, e.g. press 2 nothing happens, press 2 nothing happens, press 1 ( i'm already on screenset 1) then press 2 and it switches. Here's hoping X2b sorts this all out.

Rock solid since using a new i7 build, so chefmike is on to something. I've had 4 crashes in three months. Two of them were due to Drumagog in hosting mode with Kontakt thru jBridge....hoping the Drumagog guys get a 64 bit version SOON. The other crash was a fluke with V Vocal that I haven't been able to reproduce. Lastly, Alicia's Keys caused some weirdness but that one happened as well in standalone mode.

X2a 64 bit here. Stable. Rock stable except for this: I have identified an issue with an old 32 bit plug (Phatmatik Pro, a legacy app from bitshift/Izotope that won't ever be 64 bit but which I haven't found a suitable replacement for). I wrap it in JBridge and it is workable if I treat it gingerly. I get an occasional crash if I forget to be respectful. Edit - just tried Bitbridge instead and phatmatik pro is much more stable - the opposite was true in X1. Pays to check them both.

Mostly stable for me, I get the occasional crash but it seems to be the fault of 32-bit plugs in all but a few exceptions. That's not to say I'm not still annoyed by all the bugs/quirks/design flaws though.
