V-Studio 100 Audio Drivers

Hi
I am running Sonar X2 under Win7 64bit and have been trying unsuccessfully to get the audio drivers working.  V-100 has been updated to 1.30 firmware and driver v2.  It is connected directly to the PC by USB and not through a USB hub.

Under Preferences/Audio/Devices my Asus Xonar is recognised.  But the V-100 IN and OUTS 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 as well as DIGITAL and MAIN on the IN side are all there but greyed out and inactive.  The MIDI devices which I use for my keyboards are all OK.  Need the audio ins for sampling, voice and guitar.

Any assistance gratefully received.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times but without success.

something is holding your asio drivers. delete all audio drivers in  device mng. reinstall.
also try, switch to wdm drivers, and than to asio again.

make sure sample rate is matched. 44.1 or 48kz, in pc and v 100

turn off and on, v100  several times, initialize...

    that usally helped

    @PGM
    Many thanks for your advice.

Deleted drivers and did a reinstall.  Nothing.

After switching to wdm drivers all the audio inputs and outputs came up  and they were active.  However when I switched back to asio they were greyed out again.  As asio works perfectly for all my midi inputs, I switched back to wdm to test the signals from the v100 by plugging in a guitar and checking if sounds were made.  Right enough this worked for me and I got a signal but it was very distorted.  I had of course made sure the sample rate was the same on the v100 and the pc, so I'm still wondering where I am going wrong.

In fact I have tried a entry level TASCAM audio interface as well but it has not worked at all and very poor product support.

Feeling like selling both now but only after giving it one more try.  Cakewalk support useless as well.

Your post most helpful to date.

    Any further thoughts????

It's a shame Cakewalk/Sony won't provide decent drivers for Win7. Seems like stabillity has low rang overall... I had terrible problems getting a stable system with VS-100 and yet Sonar still loses VS-100-driver in my system (but Windows doesn't). Usually a re-start will solve this but sometimes I have to reset the midi-controll settings. You may check this thread and see if there is anything appicable to your problems: http://forum.cakewalk.com...0-SOLVED-m2400779.aspx

Just thought I'd check and see if you have updated the firmware to v1.50? Looks like that driver version needs the newer firmware. Hopefully that will help get things running.

Many thanks guys for responding.  I feel I am on a hiding to nothing here.  For some reason I cannot get v1.50 into the V100.  When I download the firmware version it comes up as 1.30.  I am done with Calkwalk.  Going to Cubase.  Thanks again.

I was hearing deafening noises when I used Cubase AI5 and 6 so I thought I should learn audio recording first. So that is why I bought Cakewalk V-Studio 100. I have had it a month. I want to use it as a stand alone first. I have a Yamaha
MM6.  I have a few questions. First do I need one or two MIDI cables? Can I use the usb cable that came with the unit and attach the unit to my keyboard or is it just for use with the pc? Third, how to get going. I'm tired of spending big bucks to go to the studio. I am asking for some basic help. Once I start recording I won't need to come here much.
I have a NP 31 which is a portable piano with MIDI. I heard they make decent keyboard controllers. Which would you recommend I use. The MM6 has a USB port and it is a synth. I have watched all the videos out there and taken notes. I have taken classes but frankly I have not had enough success to remember what I did right.
One last question do I need my Yamaha UM 16 and if so how would it be connected?

I am a good songwriter and pretty good at mixing too but my learning curve for recording is getting steeper over time and so I better learn how to use this tool this year, or I will have wasted a bunch of money and time.
