Running X3 now.
The Installation was brilliant, absolutely seemless. Picked up all my X2 stuff, project paths, plugs, synths, preferences. So far so good!!

Same here, wanted it so bad but pressed for time. Out of town tomorrow. Those who have time to experiment, do so and enjoy yourself. I'll check here for feedback.

Just had my first crash, opened an old project...the colour scheme went all crazy then Rmix popped up and I got a blue screen of death. Its all fine here, opened up about 6 X2 projects, 4 are music based and 2 are Sound Design Film projects.... All as it should be!

I haven't used X2 in several weeks and while I would like to stay up to date I think I'll wait until after the first bug fix, and after I build a better computer, before I update. Whichever comes last. By then all the experts here will have everything figured out and I can benefit from their experience. So keep working on it, y'all. :-)

OK, then I will get on it after I build a new computer, which will be several months down the road as I can only afford to buy a new component every other month or so. I think I can safely spend up to $250 a pop every other month. I'm poor and on disability so these things take time. By then you may have a new update, or version out. X2a, and Superior Drummer, run like crap on my current system and it will be worth the wait not to have to deal with those kinds of problems. Thank you for your fast reply.

So far I'm noticing a lot of little things. The revamp of the PC EQ is great and so much easier to use now. Plug in manager is much better, although I still have to exit Sonar and restart to finalize changes. The dedicated comping mode warrants some exploration. I have not looked at the new plugs, but I have to say the package is really worth the $149. Great job bakers.

X3a is for the full installer download.
Boxed users aren't getting their copy till next week. So a patch X3a is slated a few days from now. We're doing final checking on the installer, etc. Dev has already been working on X3b since last week. That won't include the video features Noel has talked about being in a future update. That's slated for c.

Well, that's good news. The X2a PC EQ is the most worthless tool I've ever seen in a Cakewalk product. I've never been able to use it without wanting to bash my monitor in.

We're still working on the specifics, as X3b is slated for any required field fixes. If you'd like send me a PM with some of the things that would make you switch over from PT to SONAR for the video work. That would be great. I can't make promises but it's good to hear from users who use the tool professionally.

Will do Seth. Let me make this clear tho, for the most part ALL MY CREATIVE work is done in Sonar but alot of the boring deliverables side of things has to come from PT... I will PM you the boring gory details of what Distribution companies ask for when you are delivering a feature film to these fiends..... Asides from the PM I will state this openly, OMFs have been a painful experience in the X series (havent tried that on X3 yet but I am assuming no change as of yet) and also AAF would be nice as thats becoming the norm.

I would also like to know more about this "post work" side of things. Though I've used OMF a couple of times and was not so bad... though I've always been puzzled by the dialog box requesting the user to enter a tempo value... (coming from an OMF project !!??) I was always scared to mess-up the timing / timecode position of audio clips if I dared to enter an improper tempo ... :-S

Thats not really a deal breaker, tempo doesnt matter across a film and the video from your editor will (well should) come with an embedded timecode in the video file which Sonar actually does really well in matching to (I have never had any synch issues in that respect)

The only sync issues I've encountered has been when using high latency inducing plugins over the duration of very long clips ( though not specifically a SMPTE issue ) it has been discussed here earlier and the workaround is to simply render the track before export so, not a deal breaker either. Very excited to hear about the possibility of better video handling in future rev's as well, still stuck using Pro Tools here for the same reason.
