FWIW, GC sent us an e-mail earlier tonight to ask if we were happy w/ the new LP, so I took the opportunity to inquire about the strap locks. Those particular ones - Epiphone's own custom thing - seem to work w/ a regular strap knob, at least from what I read on the internet. The ones on the LP look absolutely normal. Hopefully, they'll offer to ship them or offer a discount or whatever...

Incidentally, minutes before we received that e-mail, I had ordered a little 15W Marshall practice amp. Delivery time was estimated to be 4-6 days, and since I had placed the order past 6 pm Pacific, I wasn't expecting to hear about it before tomorrow at best, but, a bit after midnight, I received an e-mail to confirm that it had been shipped along w/ my tracking number. Pretty sweet.

And it seems that my strap locks are waiting for me at GC.

Solved. :)

I can't wait to see the strap locks.

I'm imaging black and plastic. Hey, black would be good right?

My Buddy Buster and I used to have fun shopping PA gear at the big stores down in Tampa. I always enjoyed watching Buster bestow benevolence to the young working guys.

I would finally lose patience and try to politely drag him away to lunch as he and the young guys would be taking stuff apart and looking at "guts" while he taught them about all the cool gear they had in stock.

I have never figured out how to do that. He had a way of speaking with them where he could steer any of their misunderstanding into a pleasant conversation that eventually returned to a re investigation of the ideas. Eventually he provided a demonstration of the applicable ideas while they eagerly soaked up the info.

Buster was a generous person. He taught me a lot of stuff.

:-)

best regards,
mike

These seem pretty cool:

Kinda like Schallers with an e clip.

I was picturing the large black plastic locking clips.

if I could tell you about some of my experiences there you wouldn't believe me,
everything from dropping a tube amp then telling me they couldn't take it as a trade in to losing my photo ID when showing for photo copy at trade in(they gave it to someone else who wasn't paying attention and left the store as they still had his.

Yikes, that's bad, Charlie.

I can't tell that I really had any issue w/ them. I'd never been to GC before we moved here. As much as I dug Sam Ash in NY, the store's obviously a bit different here but more importantly, it's simply not as conveniently located - we have a GC a few minutes from here and another at Town Square (which I actually prefer, despite the fact that it's the farthest of all).

I've also bought a few things online from them and never had an issue so far. I've recently found that Musicians Friend was shipping from Oregon, which is closer to me, whereas GC ships from Kansas, so I might give them a try the next time. MF and GC are under the same umbrella anyway, aren't they?

Otherwise, I was very pleasantly surprised the few times I've done business w/ Sweetwater. For serious stuff, they're probably the ones I'd want to try.

And contrarily to what I though, they don't work w/ just any guitar - upon closer inspection, the strap knobs on the new LP are indeed a bit different from the others, even if they work just fine w/o the locks.

Thanks! ;-)

They seem like a nice addition. All my guitars have some form of strap lock... so I can appreciate the comfort having a set for your new axe can provide. They seem like a must have to me. Plus, they look cool.

best regards,
mike
