Slow loading Plugins in X2 Producer
I have been using Sonar since version 4. It seems that in X2 every time I load a plugin it takes so long. I get a message saying Processing Audio and I have to wait at least 1 minute or more. I can't do anything else while this is happening. It seems to happen on all plugins. I am using a Win 7 machine with 2 SSD drives and 12 gigs of Ram. No issues with any other apps or performance. Just a long wait time on plugin load. Any ideas? Thanks, John

I had similar but only a few seconds delay, running windows update seems to have cured it.

Try opening up your plug in manager, and go over all the plug ins. Exclude all the plug ins that do not belong there. Are you 32 or 64 bit? Many plug ins especially from back at Sonar 4 are 32 bit only. I am not sure this is an issue. I also had Sonar 4 and 7 now X2. There are some issues that can happen with graphics cards as well. The graphics are set top priority in a pc, so that can cause pauses. I was experiencing crashes, and pauses similar as you mentioned, but I finally got it corrected. In my Edit/Preferences, I have 24 bit, 44100, 256 sample, 64 engine on, ASIO, no dither, Playback and Recording, use multi processing engines, Play efefcts tail, and open all devices all checked. Advanced configuration file, Threadscheduling Module set at 2 for my core 2 duo. If you have quad set it at 4. I am at about 10-11 mills latency. Turn off any stuff like screen saver, windows sounds, motherboard sound card like sigmal tel or whatever, or let Cakewalk disable that. Good luck with it. Free

...before you do anything to your system... This sounds very much like a problem several, including myself are having when inserting soft synths... Ever since I installed X2a ...the program freezes up ...the "mixing audio progress" meter makes its' cycle ...the screen goes white for a flash ...and voila! The synth is now ready to use. If you're experiencing this same thing ...please called technical support and have them document your report with others like it to include insertion of soft synths BTW ...my audio plug ins all work fine with no problems like the one I described I called in a tech report a couple of weeks ago.... despite more than a few replies to my inquiries as to whom else might be having the same problem... there was scant information on reports of this happening. Another person reported the problem went away after a Windows 7 update. I'd like to know when that update took place so I can find out which series of updates ...and when.

musec03, have you checked to see if maybe you had a windows update that failed? Maybe something to look at.

When you insert an effect, it does not process it. Its non destructive, so there cannot be any processing when inserting any audio effect. You are probably processing the effect and not inserting the effect and this is the wrong way to do it, if you just want to insert an effect. CJ

HI CJay ... the lag in workflow (or temporary white screen) is observed in the mixdown window. It rapidly goes from "0" to completion at which time a soft synth or plug in ready to use... Noel dropped into another thread on this same topic and seems to be interested in the number of user reports related to this phenomenon. X2a is "doing something" that is reflected in the mixdown progress bar graphic ...could be totally unrelated by product of another as of yet unidentified process... then again ...I'm not qualified to speak ...simply report my obeservations

I have the "White Screen Thing"only as a[more than likely] precursor to a crash, and[again] only on my sig. laptop, but pretty rarely[these days]. Also,I have exactly 700 VST effects plugs[mostly Free/Donation 32 bit,in 64 bit X2,just using the built in bridge-no problems],but I also have[and mostly use] Waves SSL,API,PSP,The Glue,DSM,all 64 bit,and Iv'e never had lags loading plugins,or projects? My biggest "timewaster" is waiting for exports/rendering offline or on of projects, only to have them fail, sometimes 4 or 5 times in a row...uggh,but I'm putting THAT down to the HW/HW age/HW enviroment[nicotine]. The next session most things are ok again, except a bug where when selecting "export",it will "invariably" open to the wrong page[This also happens with some other "opening" of explorer areas-always incorrect],but easily re-selected,very annoying though. I cannot think why effects plugins would take time to load, unless it's what "CJ" is saying? Bob

does there seem to be a link here for I7 users, or maybe your mobo's? maybe the peeps having problems list your mobo's. im not saying its the mobos fault, im saying its possibly sonar having a small conflict with certain motherboards.
