Mostly for me... she seemed into it. Her friends were pretty creepy as far as girls go. My weener supposedly got talked about a lot too. In a good way but still... it was a little disconcerting as I had no physical interest in those weirdos.

@beepster:  faces like this?  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQua5ZNd9PQ

As to road stories I have too many to list but one in particular comes to mind (which I may have told before...I've slept since then).  We got booked into a mammoth club in Fort Worth that had been a disco but which...starting with us...was switching over to Country.  The place, called Big Wooley's, was enormous and we started on a Friday night.  We played that night to a bartender, a waitress (the bartender sent the others home) and one solitary couple who proceeded to get as drunk as dammit, fall in the middle of the dance floor and start into the most gawd-awful fully clothed writhing and humping I've ever witnessed.  It took the bartender and two of us to get them apart, upright and out the door.  The next night we didn't play at all as we arrived about 20 minutes after someone was killed in the parking lot with a shotgun and so the police had taped off the area and closed the club.  And that's one of FUN experiences.

Where you come from is gone...where you thought you were goin to weren't never there...and where you are ain't no good unless you can get away from it.

lol... that guy looks like a buddy of mine.

But I mostly look like I'm pooping... which makes the whole affair even more disturbing.

C'mon Myolpal!  The best has always been Robin!

I recall thinking about starting a Flock of Seagulls tribute band, but I didn't have the hair for it.

Heh, what a fun, but unproductive, hour.  Everytime I go and post a link like that I end up watching it.  That's one really good Trower concert!

We got booked into a mammoth club in Fort Worth that had been a disco but which...starting with us...was switching over to Country.

Reminded me of a similar "what are we doing here?" kind of experience. We'd been booked into a mammoth beer hall, which had been featuring strippers for the past year but had decided to resume live music - starting with us. This was in British Columbia, which is famous for its anachronistic liquor laws, one of which bans advertising music for beer halls. So none of the patrons was aware that a band was coming in.

So there we are in a room that seats a thousand people - a thousand men - we're looking at them and they're looking at us and it's feeling very awkward. Finally one guy shouts "you're not gonna take yer clothes off, are ya?". I replied "we won't if you won't!". That broke the ice and by the end of the week we had pretty good crowds - of mixed gender, thankfully.

Turned out to be a good gig. We stayed for two weeks and came back several times. Became friends with some of the strippers, who'd continued to provide the daytime entertainment. But that's another story.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I've never been full time, or even profitable. I've been bringing tape decks to concerts since the eighty's. I usually go to venues I know... the fox theater in Boulder CO is one. I had an old analog cassette deck. The guys there got to like me and would give me a board feed. I've upgraded a few times since then, but the big picture is still the same. And I must say, with my stack of tapes, I rarely listen to the radio. :-)

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I don't think I understood the concept of full time till my last gig from around 97-2003. Started out as 7 nights a week for about 2 years. burned down to 5 nights for about 6 years total at a steakhouse as a one man band. Mostly just watching people chew.

Before that a bunch of bands in sleazy dives and some nice clubs too and studio work as engineer through the 70s-90s.

I think my fondest memories from that time are:
-the matching purple polyester shirts and spandex bellbottoms.
-an elevator ride with Johnny Paycheck.
- a chain link fence protecting the front of the stage from airborn beer bottles.

That's not to mention the 400 pound woman chasing me down a lone deserted mountain road.

4 hours a night, usually 6 nights week for most of the 80's - before Karaoke came & knocked most of us out, to be then replaced by TV screens in what are now known as sports bars.

Some times we did a double shift 2-6, then 6:30-10:30 in the same place.

Took another run at it part time from 2001-2005.
