PLAY plugin - RESOLVED

I had some issues w/my ILOK SW, and attempting to install their latest (which were in fact unresolved, and remain so)

As a result, I lost my soundsonline Gypsy VST Instrument. I struggled with it for some time...

I don't think they're still doing development on it? But they were helpful. I believe my problems (now resolved) were related to my system and my config.

While I'm not sure I would buy another ILOK plug? I have many.

But I did want to put in a good word for the folks at soundsonline. I really do like Gypsy, and they make many other great plug-in instruments as well.

Sittin downtown in a railway station one toke over the line.

Great to hear they have good support. I have Gypsy, RA, VOP, and MOR from them. I love the sounds but I have to be careful how I use it and treat each instance like a time bomb in a fresh project with nothing else in it and render to audio as quickly as possible. Freezing is normally out of the question because it scrambles things most of the time.
Did you have those issues on XP? You just upgraded right?  Has 64bit made a big difference in EWQL usability?

I will be 32 bits till I die... I'm 32 bit XP, SP3. I like EWQL Gold, and it works well.

However, when I do a project with a lot of tracks, I have to archive things, solo my synth, bounce it, archive it, and then use the .wav "bounced" file in the mix. It's a PITA? But my system works for me. And I don't have to deal with "new" bugs, and or 32 to 64 bit conversions, etc. etc. etc...

My biggest challenge is the drums, BFD2, and I bounce it with a bunch of tracks. But once it's bounced, then I can bus all of them and treat as appropriate.

We all fight with this stuff, I'm going to try to hold on to this system as long as I can. 32 bit and XP for as long as I can ride this horse. (and Sonar 8.3 Pro)

Gypsy Accordion rocks pretty hard though... I realize we don't need an accordion very often? But I think they have the best. And their solo violin is also very good.

Cool, still XP 32bit here too. I got a little alarmed when I read this http://forum.cakewalk.com/Paying-Twice-For-Virtual-Synthesizers-m2864540.aspx
I figure it's because he had the NI version and this doesn't apply to folks with the play version.

Big +1 on the accordions and the fast legato violin is my favorite of all sampled instruments.

I did a little experimenting and troubleshooting; I picked up a small SSD and put the MOR samples on it. Big difference in responding to live playing. Many performance issues with Play resolved. A big SSD on order for all my samples.
Still have that issue where it's randomly messing up the audio on mix down though. Crazy thing about it is, it will usually just be on one drum roll or bass run, it still sounds in time, but internally quantized to the wrong beat or something...it starts improvising. I also found if I get those results during freezing, I also get them on a normal mix down.
Only way I found to get a reliable mix down is to take the check out of the fast bounce box during mix down. So far that gives me 100% reliable results.
Only posting that in case someone else has that issue.
