X2 Advanced Workshop: Producer Effects... Now THIS I can use. Thanks Cake and Karl
Just noticed the sale on vids and this particular one I think is going to be ridiculously useful to me... http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-X2AW1.00-20E The included effects tend to confuse the heck out of me and I find the manual entries sparse at best. For 8 bucks I'm not seeing how I can go wrong here. I also like how Karl explains stuff in his vids. Thanks, dudes... and no I am not getting paid to shill. ;-)

Will do but I doubt I'll be able to really dig into it until long after the current special is over. Basically just watching someone with experience manipulate and give insight to the controls and how they affect the audio will be useful to me. I've got piles of notes and bookmarks on whatever I've happened to stumble across in my travels but they are quite disparate and scattered as well as intermixed with more general descriptions of effect principles. Having something specific to the included effects in Sonar I think will help hone and focus on what I can and cannot do with what I have. I tend to overlook or dismiss some of these tools because I do not know exactly what they are or what they are supposed to be used for and/or my hamfisted attempts at making them work how I think they should ends up frustrating me so I fallback on the ones I know how to use reliable which is kind of a limited few. For now though I have a big old pile of life dung to shovel out of my way but I hope after that is done I can get back to work and 5 hours of Karlesque advice on these tools is exactly what I needed. Cheers.

John - I've had it since it was released. This kind of subject coverage was long overdue. I was very glad Karl put it together. I found it a combination of being both a nice refresher and it helped fill in a lot of things that I was fuzzy on. Even on stuff I thought I had pretty well understood, Karl often showed something that I either found useful or pleasantly surprising.
Thumbs up!
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Exactly what I'm looking for. I KIND of understand what all the doodads are and how to use them but it's definitely a lot of trial and error. Just want to become a little more confident with them.

I decided to get it no matter what the review was. Sorry Beep. I'm glad i did. Its a very useful video. Some of it is stuff we already know but a lot of it covered stuff I know but not a fully as I should. Example the Analyst is something I have tried to avoid. FBB goes into great detail here and opens my mind and eyes as to just how useful it is. Here I'm learning to take another look at something that has been there that I shouldn't have ignored. So already its been worth the nominal price. Darn good work Karl!

+1 I liked it. I love Anderton's vids too. And hey I guess I haven't seen a Cake vid that I didn't find helpful.

I rather enjoyed it. Thanks, Karl! However, I want to see if CW would offer a chapter-separated version perhaps? This one's a bit difficult to navigate. Wondering who's singing in the chapter for the LP64 EQ. Sounds sort of like Blur.

I haven't seen Karl's video yet .... (pretty sure it's great!) but honestly, Both Craig's video are the best I've seen in quite a while!! There are so many clever tricks in there, it's ridiculous ... All I can say, is that I really learned quite a few things ... while I thought I already knew quite a bunch already ! ;) Thanks Craig! V

I use vlc and watch at high speed. This makes it easier to get back to the interesting bits .usually after watching one, I try a song with every trick in the video ha ha. ,,

I just wish it was the videos individually instead of one long 5 hour video with no index whatsoever. What I've watched so far looks informative, but I'm not going to sit through 5 hours and hope to find the topic I may be looking for. They really should have said this was 1 5 hour video in the brochure page, not "5 hours of videos (plural)".

There is a pdf in Karl's signature that provides a table of contents with times that may be useful. See my post above for a link to one of his posts.

I picked up Karl's video as well. Glad i did. It just confirmed to me that there is material that is much more enticing than the teaser they use highlighting Boost 11. As John pointed out, the info on the analyzer has given me reason to take a second look at it. I agree that a 5 hour unindexed video is not a bad idea. It comes in a zip file so all of the vids could have been included in one file. I doubt it's an expense issue since I could chop this video into chapters a couple minutes if I knew where the chapter points were.

Hi all. Thanks for the kind words on the vid(s) - As already mentioned there are pdfs in my sig that index the subjects a little better. As for my absence from the forums - I'm still here but as many of you probably know my other love is riding bikes as fast as I can round various UK race tracks. About a month a go I had a small relatively slow speed unplanned dismount (i.e. crashed ) and unfortunately a crash there is rather more painful and even more inconvenient than when Sonar crashes. I'm perfectly okay (almost) but did manage to knock myself out, break some ribs, and crock my dominant hand's index finger. Even worse from my point of view I seriously wrecked my track bike (the one in my avatar) so I'm sulking . I'm mending pretty well but the crocked finger makes typing slow and frustrating, playing guitar and keyboards difficult and even operating software isn't quite as natural as it should be, so I'm lurking a bit more rather than posting. I'm sure once the finger is fully functional I'll be back posting more - and hopefully back on the track before winter arrives . Thanks again.

Thanks for the vid! I think I'll get a lot of mileage from it. Sorry to hear about the crash - hopes and wishes for speedy (and full) recovery.

Ok, as much as I despise Apple products, I went ahead and put Quicktime on my new computer, and yep, there are the chapter points in the lower left hand corner. That makes a huge difference, I was able to jump right where I wanted. Understand, that was my only complaint, what I've watched of the videos is great! Thanks, Karl, for making these available!
