The Fast Track Ultra interfaces are no longer owned by M-Audio.  It looks like Avid took the Fast Tracks and then sold what remained of M-Audio.  That said, I have a Fast Track Ultra and have had no driver problems with it.

Hey Bill,

just wondering if you've installed the latest drivers for the ftu?  i can't get sonar to see it in asio mode with the 6.1.9 drivers.

Sorry, I probably wasn't clear enough on my description.  I CAN access the maudio control panel, but its different than the one that used to be there in that... when I used to get bleed through onto other tracks I could go into the old panel, uncheck the input monitoring option (which is not an option on the new panel), and that would solve the problem.
How do I shut off the input monitoring on the new Maudio GUI for my 2496?

Have you downloaded the latest 64bit driver from Avid? The only thing I can't control are the latency settings within Sonar's options. However, Sonar sems to choose the best latency setting and it always works fine.

Yes, I did that right away just in case, but it did not change anything :(  I'll never understand why developers need to fix things that aren't broken and ignore things that are!

My system thus far:  AMD PHenom 2, 965   3.4 ghz True Quad-core processor w/8mb cache, 16GB Corsair Ram, Gigabyte GA-890FX A-UD5  MoBo, 500 Watt pwr supply, Audiophile 2496 card,

As long as you're using ASIO you should have the option on the Hardware tab to disable direct monitoring.  If you're using WDM then I don't know.

Using ASIO only, and thus far, No...on the old interface I could do that easily.  On the new one... its not there.

I have a FastTrack Ultra Pro 8r (recommended by Jim Roseberry).  Of course I am using it on a Roseberry designed system so maybe that is key to the flawless performance :-)  I have had a good experience with it, I particularly like the preamps.  I was going to get a dedicated outboard preamp but haven't felt the need since using these.
I did particularly want to share my experience with Avid support however.  I bought the FastTrack used and it had a noisy preamp.  I contacted Avid support to see what it would cost to have it repaired.  They had me mail it in to them, repaired it, and sent it back to me free of charge.  I was very pleased with the results.

Same problem I'm having - it was advised to go back one release, which I havent done because I had to uninstall several things just to get the driver to install.  I assume they will fix this issue rather quickly?  :  )

Thanks for validating, because they work with all my other audio software... standalone vsts, reason, cubase, etc. just not sonar. blech.

I've been using an M-Audio C600 interface for over a year now.... LOVE it.  In fact, I just finished recording an album with it.... I know it sounds funny, but seriously.... it was that reliable.  The only thing that was irritating, and I don't think it was even the interface's fault, was that if you unplug the USB cable, you'd literally have to reinstall the driver.  REALLY irritating.  But, I think that must be a setting within Windows that can be changed.  I just haven't found what that setting is yet!

On another note.... I also have an M-Audio Keystation 88 controller that I also LOVE.  M-Audio makes great stuff.
