Wave preview, but no wave recording
It drives me crazy!! I can record, see the preview waveform but when I hit stop, or even pause (tried to be smarter than X2), it is gone! There is not any sound. I really tried all the stuff in the forum to solve my problem, without any results. See for example http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/1892872 and http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2819316I have this problem in X1 and X2, but not in 8.5.1. So for the moment I record in 8.5.3, the only way for me to work around. But it should of course not to be the solution... Can somebody help me?

This has happened to many who have forgotten Punch Record active. I don't know if that's the solution in your case, obviously. I optimisticly guess it must be something very simple. What puzzles me in your opening post in the linked thread is what you say about V-Vocal. Does it just indicate using VV in 8.5 where the recording is succesful, or is VV somehow involved in the disappearing recordings as well?
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

No, punch record is not active. I really tried - in my opinion - all the suggestions in other posts. And it was not me, talking about v-vocal, that was sickvision him self. Unfortunately he is no longer active on this forum. i do use v-vocal, but only after the recording and editing (in wavelab) on vocals is done. But as it is now: no recordings at all in X1 and X2, so no v-vocal at all.... I was triggered by the solution of reinstalling X2, and I sure want to do that, but there was spoken also about deleting some items in the registry, and that I cannot find yet. And is X1 then working too with recording?? As soon I know that, I will reinstall X2.

This is the wrong forum for X1/X2. It is for older versions of SONAR. Is SONAR installed on the C: drive? Are you using per-project folders with the "Store in its own Folder" option selected? Are you running as administrator?

Hi scook, sorry I am on the wrong forum, you are right. Is it better to end this thread here and start a new one? X1/X2/8.5.3 are all installed on the c-drive. Yes, every project has its own audio-folder on the second hard-drive. I am the only user, but even running as an adminstrator did not solve the problem.

The main reason for posting in the correct forum is there is way more people there who can help you out, only a few people left here to help now and again. So I would start a new thread there myself. Only thing comes to mind for me is that some sort of keyboard short cut has become activated by mistake. Like the space bar has become the delete recording button. What happens if you use the mouse on the transport? I think you said you see the red line being drawn as you record so that is a good sign that all inputs are correct. Obviously you understand you arm the tracks first before pushing the record "R" or using the transport big red button. Good luck

Johnny, I tried it with the mouse and pause, but even then the wave form disappeared.
