I haven't read all of the X3 related posts so correct me if I'm wrong, but does anyone else think it's weird that amongst all of this speculation, nobody has expressed a hope that staff view has been improved?

I assume they've given up hoping for the future of Sonar which is pretty much what I've done as of this thread and the response I got from Seth.

I'm not sure how you can infer that we've given up hope, when all I stated was that we listen to the entirety of our customer base before making decisions.

Seth

I was referring to those who were looking forward to staff view improvements. I know you guys are hopeful for the future.

And to clarify WHY I'm upset... what your reply to me was basically that third party plugs are to blame for problems, people on the forum's opinions are less valid because we are malcontents who do not represent the "true" user base and that past behavior of releasing timely updates is not indicative of how the company plans to operate in the future.

Seriously it was some food for thought from a guy who took a chance with Sonar and it was dismissed out of hand. As I said I will be far more cautious when buying or recommending your products from here on out. Sorry but I do not feel as confident or as enthusiastic as I did a short year ago.

I really did not want to turn this into a crudfest but I found the glibness of the response to be a little insulting. I will now shut up and go about other more important issues. Peace.

Please re-read the second paragraph on my post (#45).  I never said we weren't going to offer timely updates in the future, like in the past. I was careful in wording that...

I also stated most of the issues reported were 3rd party related, Ryan has mentioned this in a previous post. I did not deny that there were issues still unresolved. There were a few I was upset about too (I was a SONAR user for 10 years before joining Cakewalk). I never said your opinions are less valid. We have surveys that go out every year to the entirety of our user base.

Just a point to think about. There's quite the pirate presence on the forum, I know if I was a paying customer, I wouldn't want them dictating how a company spent my money on improving the software I use. I've reached out to a lot of these individuals before and they just disappear.

Seth

Well I can guarantee you I am NOT a pirate. I have invested quite a bit of my scarce resources into your wares and in general I do think it is great stuff... BUT I am now more or less tapped as far as dumping money directly into Sonar (I need some other more hardware related stuff for my studio) and I was hoping for X2 to have been tweaked that little bit more so it isn't quite as frustrating to work with. I have never bashed or been hyperbolic and I even stand up against those types on occasion (which has made me unpopular sometimes) but I also try to be pragmatic and honest about the issues I see with the program and my experiences (which has also made me unpopular at times).

Point is the past year has been frustrating and I've been trying to keep it cool. Your replies just kind of irked me. I'll get over it. Cheers.

I know you're not, don't worry about that, and I understand where you're coming from on a limited budget. My car is from 1995...

I also know you're not a trouble maker on the forum and you're actually very helpful to people (or it appears).

This year has been very frustrating for everyone. Especially when we were working hard and couldn't show anyone.

Seth

I can imagine it's been hard on you guys too if your hands have been tied. I really wasn't trying to give you personally a hard time and frankly it ticks me off when folks just outright abuse you guys (it takes away focus on the more reasonable input around here). I was just offering some insight into where some of the consumer frustration may be coming from. How about we forget this happened.

As a side point, in seven years as a user / customer I've never seen such a thing, so unless it was just me that was excluded for some reason, you might want to also consider the possibility that your survey of the entire user base might not be as complete as you thought.

Yup, your never-say-die attitude towards sending me new ways for me to consider emptying my bank account into yours is indeed admirable. ;)

I predicted there would be no x2b and had decided that was good cause not to upgrade to X3.

With all this info "leaking" out about x3 features i can understand cakewalks dilemma. On one hand online users complaining about long standing issues and getting them fixed yet the meed to move forward. Nothing to do but take a break from releases, get to work deep in the code and while there add some deep hooks to allow powerful new features to be implemented.

Am i happy we didnt get another patch for x2; no way, BUT im glad cakewalk had the guts to do it knowing the long term benefits.

I don't want to speculate anything. I actually don't want to think anything about Sonar now, except for when X3 is going to be out (so that I can be sure how many more days I need to meditate). So, when is it exactly? That's what this thread is about, isn't it? Remember the serious survey done this year? Only X3 will tell us whether the survey was worth it or if CW do care about us. So, no speculation or concerns are needed. Only the release date, please.

Seth,

I too can confirm that I've received all of *1* survey in my three years as a registered member (13 years as a Cakewalk customer). And I do receieve the regular Cakewalk marketing e-mails every couple of weeks.

Also, I might note (of little significance as it may be now) that in that one survey I got, I did express my hope for another update for X2 before all focus shifted to the next retail release. I relate to the folks who've had to work around some genuine potholes and speedbumps, who'd come to depend on more than one bug fix tune-up per release. Alas.

I may need to join the crowd waiting in the wings for a while to see what all X3 brings to the table. To be fair, though, that's pretty normal routine for me. I didn't jump on board X2 or X1 right off the bat either. Though I'd not be very surprised to see more people mirroring the same behavior this go-around, in light of the big changes and the communication niggles over the past months.

Granted, my perception of the Cakewalk user base is fairly limited to the scope of this forum, which, as stated, appears to be in the minority. But the sentiments felt by numerous peeps here certainly aren't ISOLATED to the confines of the forum. Plenty of people, Cakewalk customers included, simply don't use forums in general. Doesn't mean they're not experiencing several of the same issues. Always worth keeping in mind, IMHO.

Hey Strummy,
That is the same character (without the hat) that a past member of this forum uses for his avatar over on another forum where he his happily bagging Sonar and all us cakewalkers.
I must say I much prefer your take on this character. Big SMSL (split my sides laughing)
