How to delete all song contents, set end of song marker?

How do I eliminate EVERYTHING in a song and set a new end of song marker? When I select everything and delete it, including the hole, etc. there is still an end out at measure 115 or so when I do a Crtl-A. I want to start afresh and import new wave files from a live recording into the same tracks and settings, but the old song end lingers no matter what I do. Any ideas?

This is why there are templates. Once you get this sorted, save it as a template.
Often the reason a song plays past the end is a hidden event. Look in the events list and at the tempo map for example.

And don't forget that all your plug ins can be  saved and named as a custom pre set.

Yes, I know about templates, but what if I imported tracks and then cut out substantial portions via editing? It would still have the "end" out way past the new, earlier ending. Is there no access to where Sonar stores whatever it thinks is the end and no way to change it?

It is usually a MIDI event, which can be found in the event list or an automation envelope node that causes SONAR to play past what appears to be the end of the project.

There are no events after the song end, but when I do a Ctrl-A, it selects way past the song end. There are no other events in the list.

Look for a track with little dots running past your new end.
archived tracks that cause the problem??
To bad Sonar doesn't feature a "CTRL/END" feature ( like wave lab for example)
this highlights everything from the cursor to the end and then you hit DELETE.
The work around is to Zoom waay out so the track view shows the whole thing including the phantom ending, Starting at the ending you want, Drag the cursor right to highlight and hit DELETE.

Couldn't you set the Now Time marker to where you want the end to be, click on Edit>Select>From = Now Time, then Edit>Select>Through = End and then delete?

When I do that, then Ctrl-A, it still selects out to measure 113 to where it thinks the previous end was, so, if I import new tracks or even shorten existing tracks through editing out sections in the middle, it still selects out to some other "end". How does it "know" to do that? What if you were able to access wherever it stores that and change it to something else?

Yeah - I just don't know how to find out what's hiding out there.

If nobody else has any other ideas, what about doing a CTRL A to select everything, then set the range of selected data to be from the beginning of the project through where you want the end to be, do a Copy Special, then build yourself a new project and paste it all in.

Pain in the rear, but at least I would think that would get you past whatever is going on in your current project.

I just don't see a lot of options, other than what had been posted, and I have not had to deal with this particular issue, so I am winging it with my suggestion above.

Now, PRIOR to doing the above, have a look at the thread in the following link, as there may be something there that helps you without having to resort to trying my above suggestion.  Here is the thread link:
