My Large project that was started in X2 won't export in X3 without crashing

Not good. I don't even get the option of submitting any error reporting since the program simply crashes. When I hover over the taskbar icon for X3, I get a hundred instances of "Runtime error".

Any one else?

Hey James, try unchecking Fast bounce. Maybe you did something in X3 that doesn't like the fast bounce.
Or maybe, just maybe, your playback buffers needs to be higher to help the bounce, maybe??

Save a copy of the project... and remove all plugins.
Does the mix (sans plugins) now export without crashing?

I've experienced one crash in X3a while mixing.
I had both VST3 and VST2 plugins in the same efx bin when it happened.

There's currently a problem where Waves VST3 plugins lose their settings (upon reloading the project).
To workaround that issue, I switch to using VST2 version of Waves plugins.  No crashes since...

Yep, that did it CJ. I then tried it again with larger buffers and that crashed it.

LOL, maybe your buff was too big. That's what she said to me :)

Any ARA clips in the project? It would be useful if you could get a dump for that crash, or submit the project file itself (with the audio) if its reproducible.

I have a project which I started in X2a which I cannot use in X3, as I get a crash every session.  I have given up on X3 until it receives a patch and am finishing the project in a very, very stable X2a.  I have sent every error report to Cakewalk.

I am very unimpressed that the UAD / Waves bug was not discovered before X3 was released.  I don't see how that could have been missed.

You could say I am disappointed and wish I had waited to buy X3.

Really? These issues only impact VST3 and we've already promised a speedy update.
I don't see how we or anyone else could be more responsive here.

Does your project that is crashing use waves plugins? List the CWBRN number here.

There are a ton of ARA clips Noel. Do ARA clips render prior to mixdown? I ask because I get about 5 minutes of processing audio files, and then I get 2/3 of the way through the mixdown and then it crashes. I cannot get a dump file, as X3 doesn't provide that reporting interface with this crash (unless it is buried somewhere else?).
I would love to send you the file but it is probably way too big, though I will see what I can do.

A question: can you freeze (bounce to clip?) individual ARA sections? When I bounce to clip with ARA it renders as silence.

Aha that's most likely it then. There is a known Melodyne bug with fast bounce and multiprocessing that only happens in some cases. I have worked extensively with Celemony on this and they plan on releasing an update that fixes it soon. You should be able to work around this from SONAR by either doing a realtime bounce or by turning off Multiprocessing before doing the bounce. Please confirm that either of these fixes the problem. I have already got a host side workaround for this but it wont be in the next update since it requires more testing.

BTW we have not received any actual crash dumps logged against melodyne. If any of you have got crashes with melodyne please let me know what the CWBRN numbers are so I can send the dumps to Celemony for analysis.
