Dan, I've reported this already....but it may be worth looking into as I never heard back whether staff was going to talk to Voxengo or not. But Pristine Space cannot be used with a UAD on the same fx bin. I was told the issue was with Pristine Space. However, both of these plugs work in the same project, just not on the same fx bin at the same time. I'm able to use them in x64, but not 32 bit Sonar X3. So if you have an "in" at Voxengo, maybe you can pass the info on.

The project that fails for me has Pristine Space in the FX bin first with a UAD 1176 following it on the same bin. Crash city if you load them in a project...and crash city if you try to load a project with that line-up. Thanks.

-Danny

Ok, lemme check in our end to see if this is a known issue. When you say "report" do you mean that you submitted a problem report? If so, what is the CWBRN #?

Danny - don't see you much on the Fractal forum anymore ?

Mmmmm I love my Axe-FX, glad to see we have a lot of users on this forum.

soundsubs...namely Cyanide 2.0im certain there are others. the workaround has been to open with shift mode to selectively open plugins, but I noted that Sonar no longer puts "placeholder" plugins on the channel. When did this disappear? still testing

Please PM a list of plugins you have found that do not work with SONAR and/or you have been finding some issues here or there.  I'll jump right in and see what we can do.-DG

Hi Dan,I am a newbie, so can't send PMs yet.  Antares Avox 4 64bit plugins are causing Sonar X3 to crash.  They scan ok, but when you try to insert one into a track, Sonar crashes.  Thanks for taking a look.

Confirmed, they are crashing SONAR X3c. VST2's don't scan in and the VST3's crash SONAR hard. We'll start looking into this over here at HQ. *EDIT* I was able to get the VST2 64bit and 32bit plugins to successfully scan and open in SONAR X3c. The VST3's cause SONAR X3c to crash. For now, try using the 64bit VST2's and you should be ok, lemme know if that does not work. The VST2 64bit plugins install in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2

Thanks for checking and glad to hear you were able to reproduce. Will try the 64 bit VST2 versions and report back. Many thanks.

When I updated I got loads of CLSID problems. Waves 9 could only open one plug in before crashing. If I deleted a Waves plug in from the FX Bin Sonar crashed. T-Racks CS would crash Sonar, and since updating T-Racks standalone crashes my PC, no idea why but update was the only change I made. True Pianos kept hanging in VST scan. Arturia Spark crashes to desk top if I open it up in a project. MiniMonsta that ran absolutely fine before the update now spikes CPU really badly if I change any settings on the synth and is now unusable (one of my go to synths). I was at such a standstill I had to roll back to X3b. Hope this helps. I can't unfortunately recreate any of these crashes now due to the rollback obviously.

Re: X3c still crashing with some plugins 2013/11/05 07:33:20 (permalink)

DMG Audio is currently looking into crashes with EQuality in Sonar.
There is also a problem with Compassion. Everything is fine in X2, but I had crashes opening my X2 projects in X3 - with mono (DMGAudio has a mono and stereo version of Equilibrium and Compassion) version of Compassion on each mono drum track (mono interleave set on each track too).

I got around this by using the VST3 versions of Equilibrium and Compassion with X3 - but it's a PIA changing everything. The problem is definitely caused by X3 presenting these (VST2 versions) plugins differently - and I sent a message off to Cakewalk support. Dave @ DMGAudio says the same thing - it's caused by SONAR X3.

The good thing is - there is a workaround - use the VST3 versions on mono and stereo tracks.

I would think yes, that something changed in X3 that the 3rd-Party plug-in makers may not be appraised of yet, but hopefully that will be ironed out soon. I assume Cakewalk has an outlet where 3rd-party plug-in developers can access specific VST2/3 information and what changes have been made that *could* affect the use of such plugins.

I don't have issues with DMG Compassion, but only EQuality and EQuick, both of which are DMG's earlier plug-ins. But I'm also using VST3 versions of those.

EQuality and EQuick simply crash the VST Scanner literally every time. Or rather, the VST Scanner chokes and crashes when trying to scan EQuality and EQuick.

Elysia Niveau Filter (VST2 - 32bit), will work OK when first put in the FX bin, but will crash X3 when you re-arrange the plugin order in the bin.  VST3 - 32bit version seems to be OK.

Are you running SONAR X3c 32bit? I can't seem to reproduce this issue.
-DG

Yes.  X3c 32bit on Win7 x64.
UAD (x86) plugins are still flaky in general.  I inserted an instance of Ocean Way, then removed it; after its removal, all of the UAD plugins in the project were disabled.  Audio would pass through, but no processing would be performed.

I will take a look at this Oceanway plugin now.

Yes, we are aware of these. The VST3's are crashing SONAR X3c but the VST2's work just fine. This should suffice as a workaround until we understand what's going on.

Yes Dan. I tried it 3 times. Rollback, reinstall X3c, reset, rescan. Same problems. I even completely removed X3 and reinstalled, reset and rescan. Minimonsta problem seems to be intermittent.

What happens to the VST2 to VST3 migration users in X3c? I'm still on X3b so I have not tested that recipe.

I would suggest sticking with the AVOX VST2 plugins. The AVOX VST3 plugins have an issue that we are aware of. This is not the behavior of all VST3 plugins, just the AVOX ones.

A lot of the LePou plugins cause Sonar to be very unstable:

In particular, the amp sims (LeGion, LeXtac) which I usually use in conjunction with LeCab2.

I have had several problems with glisseq from voxengo (64bit - latest version).
Some projects the are unstable, some won't open (crash emmediately on open), but most just have certain tracks/busses that won't play.

In order to reproduce this, you need many instances of glisseq on many tracks, clips,  and busses.  Here is more info on my specific issues:

I've been getting similar issues when using lepou vsts. I'll load them in my fx chain for my guitar channel and when I try to save, X3 crashes. Happens every time and it's only the lepou plugins. Other ones i use work fine.

OK CW knows this already but I'll just mention it again hoping it doesn't keep falling through the cracks endlessly...

Having more than one plugin (any plugins, any combination) that sends MIDI events out at the same time will crash Sonar. A bug that may be related (seeing as both have to do with plugins sending MIDI out) is where there is MIDI crosstalk from plugin outputs into unrelated tracks that are recording MIDI from external inputs. There are no workarounds for these two issues.

Re: X3c still crashing with some plugins 2013/12/09 12:19:07 (permalink)
DMG Audio released updated versions of their plug-ins. They're still crashing the VST Scanner, but if you uncheck "Rescan Failed Plug-ins" and scan again for each failure, you may find the plug-ins are successfully added and usable. Per the suggestion above, hiding the 32-bit versions from Sonar may also help.

btw, just to set a point of reference for my update, everything I do these days is 64-Bit. How I wish Flux will update Alchemist for me, and for Algorithmix to simply update their webpage or respond to emails to show a sign of life, but outside of those two, I use only 64-Bit plugs and DAW's.

Old thread alert!

X3D was released 17th Dec, that means everything in this thread could be out of date apart from the last two posts.

Those who haven't tested their plugins yet should try and find the latest version of their plugin, install X3D,  and then reset and rescan their plugins:
