It hasn't went anywhere. It installs by default unless you do a custom install

It must not be part of X3. If you have a previous version of Sonar, you can just do a custom install and only put a check next to the vc64.

thx - I sorta thought that, but I just tried the custom in X2 and it was in that (that I could find) and I did a default install (on a new system) of X3..It did not come from X1. And you guys reckon it get installed auto? hmmm I will check again, but I went through the C: folders - might have missed it I suppose..

I'm positive. Try doing a re-scan of plugins. it should show up under VST2 plugins with a (32-bit) indicator next to it

I'm sorry. For some reason it shows up on mine even though i did what I thought was a clean install. Must have found a way to stick around.

No apologies needed Dub, not your fault m8 Yeah - I could have a look at the X1 install and see if it is there I suppose - but IIRC on the previous system and X2, I was sure it installed with X2...X1 was not loaded at all. EDIT: nope not in X1, so it must have come from X2 - I have no idea now where I can get it from - damn!

VC-64 is not included in SONAR X3 anymore. You'd have to do a custom install from X2 installer.

I think I know how mine got there. I thought I wiped everything out but i did do a basic X2 were I checked only v-vocal and r-mix. Somehoe VC-64 must have been included as well.

Joden, are you looking for VC64 or Vintage Channel? Not trying to be a smart aleck, but I never had X2, so I know it was in X1. Look for Vintage Channel.

Question 1: I have Sonar producer 8.5. Will I be able to get the VC-64 to appear in the plug-in menu if I custom install this version along with the new X3? Question2: I missed out on R-mix. Is it possible to upgrade to X2 from 8.5 before upgrading to X3? Thanks!

VC 64 was in 8.5 so yes it will be available. No R-Mix came with X2 only.

you might be able to find a hard copy of X2 somewhere and pick up R-Mix that way. I don't think you can get X2 as an upgrade path from CW.

And a friendly reminder that VC-64 is a 32 bit plug, just in case you are trying to go all 64 bit like me.

surprised it has been taken out of X3 - it was a Kjaerhus effect, right? The sale to Gibson shouldn't affect that. Kjaerhus had some issues and maybe stopped producing software, as I remember, so perhaps the licensing couldn't be perpetuated? Any ideas about why it was lost? I never really got into the VC-64 anyway, something about its interface made it seem unwieldy to me, but I think I did use it a few times in some old music, which means I have another reason along with V-Vocal to have to keep previous Sonar version installations around.

Well it wont ever get an upgrade for one. It may be for some other reason though. One that is contractual perhaps.

I like the VC-64 a whole lot. I assume Cakewalk has a reason not to include it, but when I noticed it was missing, I pulled out the X2 install disks... So why do I like it? De-esser before amp sims, amazing pumping drum effects by using the out of phase option on one compressor channel, putting two compressors with really small ratios in series...it's a great little plug-in.

Yes it is. It took me a little while to get use to the interface, but once I got the hang of it I wanted more and more!! Yes it is 32bit only. And from everything that I have read on this forum, the guy that developed it just dropped out of sight. No word, nothing. Just closed the doors on his business. Never learned why. But I heard he had some really good free fx's at one time. I never could get a copy of them to try. But if they were like the Vintage 64 (and I heard they were just as good), I just never understood why he just let it all go. A lot of people speculated, but no one ever came up with an official word of what happened that I know of. Bummer.
