Graphics cards...grrrrrrrrrrrr...they've been the single biggest cause of Windows issues for me. I really don't care if a driver update allows for a 4.2% frame rate increase in "Call of Duty" if it makes everything else blow up.

I have been running X2 for more than a year, and X3 for some period of time as well, on Windows 8, with no problems. I have not yet gone to Windows 8.1, as I have some research to do first on my Presonus audio interface drivers. There are some touchy screeny folks out here in the forum - can't recall who they are, but I seem to remember some having played with it. Bob Bone

CakeAlexS > X3 not only crashes itself but makes my entire system unstable. > From there if I don't reboot my system other programs start to crash. Something has caused Sonar and other applications to crash, it won't be Sonar doing this. Remember Sonar has terminated once it has crashed, it's not hanging around like a bad smell afterwards or causing applications to crash around it, nope. This smells of something leaky, probably hardware/drivers, driver conflict, or the way ASIO is set up. These are just assumptions though we need far more detail. Cheers...
Just a note in case it might help someone in the future. If Sonar (or other apps) crash they might not terminate correctly. I've problems in the past with Sonar X1 crashing and had problems restarting it. A quick check of the processes page of Task Manager showed that the SONARSTD.exe process was still running. I had to manually kill it to get Sonar to run again. Not a problem limited to Sonar. It depends on how a program crashes. And X3 has been rock solid for me. - Dave

Sonar running as a background process wouldn't " make the entire system unstable" and this scenario would not happen: "if I don't reboot my system other programs start to crash" either. Nevertheless a good point if you need to start Sonar whilst a deadlocked process is running. Cheers.

We have asked the OP to re-title his misleading thread more than once but he chooses not to... given the amount of energy the fine folks here bring to our problems I can only surmise such OPs are lazy, disrespectful, have hidden agendas, and/or just happen to be your typical whiners/takers/never give backer types which litter our planet. Oh, if I were GOD and had a delete button... this planet would be a lot less cluttered. I know... not nice... and I'm sorry... but it's emblematic of so many issues impacting humanity...takes so little time/energy to set things right... but, nah! wtf? vent done... apologize profusely but Arrrrg! What's even more disgusting is the fact that IT WAS A FRACKIN' VIDEO CARD AND NOT X3 is not searchable due to the misleading title... really sad all around...but in this world there are the good guys and the bad guys... can I wake up now??? Well! I've worked up enough angst that I may as well go create a song about climate deniers!!! As rains are predicted for tomorrow...maybe an all nighter!!! yippi!
