If ur like me, you won't do this until you are super bored cause stuff works right now haha

That's the truth right there. I have been fiddling with this issue off and on since last Saturday and I'm done for a while.

I was considering so many things to do to fix this. It drove me crazy that I had none of these issues with the same type of plugin layouts in X2 (I fired X2 up on Sunday and all was well). Which is really what has me thinking this problem is somehow vst3 related. I also upgraded / installed Melodyne Editor after installing X3 and wonder if Cake and Melodyne install properly integrated together regardless of which one is installed first.

I like X3, but I've had the most head scratching problems with this version dating back to Sonar3. At the root of it all, may be my pc and all the programs and OS that have come and gone since I got it in 2009. If this type of problem pops up again, I may bite the bullet and wipe the drive and do a fresh install of everything. I would probably kill a lot of unknown bugs going that route. But who wants to do that?  :)

Of course it's VST3 related.
If you have vst3 migration turned on, it has to scan to see if it needs to replace vst2 with vst3 plugins in the custom menu. That's why I physically removed all vst2 plugins from the scan path of which I have vst3 copies.
The cakewalk blog that went up yesterday regarding vst3's answered a lot of the questions that I had regarding why my start up of the program without a project loaded took so long for me and why my right click fx insert options took so long.
Don't know if you had noticed but since you had cleaned up your vst's to make the fx bin pop up faster, Sonar probably starts faster for you now.
Here's the blog link to which I'm referring to: Sonar X3 VST3 Internals

Cakewalk by Bandlab - Win10 Pro x64 - StudioCat Platinum Studio DAW - 32 GB Ram - MOTU UltraLite-mk3
M-Audio Keystation 88ES - Akai MPD26 (hot-rodded) - Alesis DM10 - a few guitars, a few amps
Novation Launch Control - Korg nanoKONTROL2 - PreSonus FaderPort - DAW Remote HD on iPad
Adam A7X - Behritone C50A

I did the same exact thing with Melodyne regarding having Melodyne Plugin, upgrading to the latest and greatest for Sonar.

I also installed some Waves plugs, which were confusing me in terms of installation-folders for awhile.  That was fun.. :/

I also haven't updated my UAD plugs because I've read too many horror-stories about them in the X-series of Sonar.  I contacted UA and they told me it was all good as long as I installed them in the correct locations.  Once again, I'm waiting until I don't have projects heavily on-the-go.

I definately did not have 7 second wait times with the context-menu, 3 seconds or so I'd say.  That's definately a show-stopper IMO!  What used to be instantanious taking a perceived lifetime haha.

Thanks for the link and the advice - think I'll do the same. On that note, I'm trying to make sure I also don't scan the same plugs for 32 and 64 bit. Just to be on the safe side.

I know! I clicked and waited with disbelief! This has probably been going on for a while, I usually use the browser and drag the plugs. But last week trying to audition a plug during playback in console view, right clicked, waited for it, wait, count to 7 one thousand and the song was ending...  :)
