Sound Forge doesn't run as a plugin. I made to plugin comment as it has been stated in a post that SF plugins didn't work in Sonar.

Audio editors/programs can be configured so that a track, clip or any selected audio inside Sonar can be passed to it via the utility menu for destructive manipulating then passed back to Sonar for inclusion in the current project. I also have iZotope RX2 setup so that I can work on any part/s in context.

Hey Mike, I am totally unfamiliar with Sound Forge, and "think" Frink is asking to simply do a (single) destructive NR pass on an audio file. Can that be done from the tools menu without running it as a plug-in?

Yes - that's exactly what I'm trying to do.

Thanks for the YouTube vid - Audition looks like it can do what I need but my cheapskate gene is preferring the free reaFir option.
The annoying thing is that my first DAW was acquired second-hand from a guy who was refitting his studio so it came with Sound Forge and the Noise Reduction plug-in. Both versions are quite ancient (pre-2000) so I have neither the means of the licences to bring them to my new PC.

I guess I'm inherently nervous about running too many FX in real-time, hence my preference to do a single destructive pass. However, I rather suspect that my new DAW has the muscle to handle FX in-line so I'm probably worrying unnecessarily. Worst case is that I'll bounce the track and create a post-FX new clip within SONAR.

Thanks for all your help though. I think, in parallel with this, I'll submit a feature request for noiseprint capture/reduction.

Now, THAT wasn't supposed to happen...

I've noticed various comments in this thread so thought I'd updated some information:

The DX plugins in Sound Forge 11 (not sure about 10) are all compatible with Sonar x64. These same plugins are all available within Vegas 12 which is fully 64 bit and I suspect that is why they have been updated for 64 bit compatibility. I make regular use of them in Sonar.

I just checked and you are 100% right. I also have Vegas Pro 12 and run the 64 bit version.  Funny I may never have known that the SF plugins are available in Sonar if you hadn't said so. I wouldn't have bothered to look. LOL

I also have SF 11. It woks with Sonar.

Best

Hmmm... someone put a message on that video saying "please audition as active sonar profit x3 Thank you."

I have no clue what he means here?? Already I do not like YouTube, LOL.
