Pre-Sales support -- anyone home? [Resolved]

Sorry to post this here, I would have PM'd Ryan or someone about this but when I tried I get a message saying I am ineligible to send PMs.

I'm an old Cakewalker (CW 6, 7, 8 and 9, as well as Sonar 1 and 2) looking to return to the fold after a some years by buying Sonar X3e. I've had some correspondence, using the CW email address for pre-sales questions (being overseas, I don't wish to call)  in which Dean at CW tells me that I am eligible for some kind of upgrade price based on prior purchases; but at the point at which I was requesting confirmation of the exact price I'd have to pay, radio silence from CW has ensued. Perhaps Dean is busy helping others, or the ticket has somehow slipped through the cracks at this stage, or there is some other explanation, but -- especially as it took multiple emails over several weeks for support to answer a simple question I had re one instrument I'd bought in 2011 -- whatever, the lack of response is now giving me pause.

I am trying to give you money here, and I'm not happy have to chase y'all just to find out the applicable price.

Could Ryan, Craig or anyone else who works for CW perhaps take this under their wing, and get someone to email me the requested info please? It regards Case 126709. (Note: in that correspondence I'd asked for the upgrade price I'd have to pay for X3 Studio; meanwhile I am considering perhaps going for X3 Producer, so if I could find out the upgrade price for each, I'd be grateful).

Cakewalk have been mega busy with the release of X3E.
Watch this space anyway, USA will be online in 4 or 5 hours if not earlier, sure they will respond now. Give 'em 24 hours max. Cheers...

I thought there was some sort of $99 promo cost for upgrade that was recently posted - I will look for it after a cup of coffee.

It looks like the cost from the various versions is currently:

To Upgrade to Sonar X3 Producer (Download version):

Upgrade from SONAR X2 Producer $149.00
Upgrade from any SONAR Producer $199.00
Upgrade from any SONAR Studio $299.00
Upgrade from any other SONAR $399.00
Upgrade for any registered customer $449.00

To Upgrade to Sonar X3 Studio (Download version):

Upgrade from any version of SONAR (except LE) $99.00
Upgrade for any registered customer $149.00

To upgrade to Sonar X3 (Download version):

Upgrade for any registered customer $49.00

Again - there may be a $99 upgrade deal available, but start with the above, which I pulled from the Cakewalk Store just a couple of minutes ago, for each of the available versions - as an upgrade to the downloadable versions.  There are additional charges for a boxed set of discs, and you can look those up, if desired.

Thanks Robert/ Actually that list was the starting point for my correspondence (except that CW hikes the prices for those of us in the UK, e.g. what's $99 for a download in the US is £89 = $147 to download here; can't imagine why except for greed, but that's another topic). In my correspondence I was getting CW to confirm which products I bought they have on record. Was making progress when the radio silence kicked in.

I did find the post that talked about the $99 upgrade.  I think this was a promo offer sent via email to registered X2 Producer owners.  I did not see any such offer posted in the store as of this morning, so I cannot tell you that this offer would apply to anyone outside their targeted email community.

Anyways, here is the link for that thread, if you want to review it to see if anything applies:

    http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3009598

Hope any of the info I posted helps sort things out for you.

If you can do it, I HIGHLY recommend going all the way up to X3 Producer.  Lots of features, stable, and comes with a BUNCH of plugin effects and instruments.

There is a 30-day free trial available, if you haven't tried it out yet, I recommend you invest some time into reviewing it.  It won't have the add-ons, but the UI and engine are the same as the full retail version.

Thanks again, Robert. While Producer is tempting, from what I see, the main difference seems to be that Producer has loads of additional VSTfx and VSTis. While they might be great, I have so many from 3rd parties I think I'm probably set there. Basically just want a stable, fully-featured platform to host them. But just in case, would like to confirm the prices for me of each version.

    Hi lingyai,

I'm going to bump this to Dean to look into. I can see he sent an email on Monday asking for some further info. Some of your previous products are registered under a different name, so he needs more verification before he can merge records (which is what the store needs to make you eligible for upgrade pricing). Doesn't look like he got an email back however. I'll ask him to send it again.

    Ryan,

Thanks. Not long after you posted this Dean emailed me. I did in fact reply to his email Monday with the info he requested. Dunno what happened, some sort of IT snafu I guess; I did not receive any email sending failure report.... whatever, these things happen. I've re-sent him my earlier reply, so hopefully we'll be on track soon.

Sorry to forum readers for posting all this here; it was the only way I could be sure (short of calling) of reaching CW. Thanks again, Ryan, Rob and Alex.

Actually -- Dean, or someone -- can you please confirm here whether or not you received my email sent around 30 minutes ago? Because apparently you did not receive those I sent Tuesday or Wednesday. The fact that this happened twice makes me suspect it is probable it could happen a third time. Maybe for some reason your server has decided it doesn't like emails from me anymore

Ok, in the end I just called them and got it sorted. (Andrew from CW: I received your PM, thanks; unfortunately I'm not allowed to reply to PMs. Just FYI, I had to confirm that I had indeed purchased the different products -- had ordered them using different email addresses, they needed to be sure all were mine. All's well that ends well, touch wood).

Just wanted to follow up that we did end up receiving the emails. You were right, technical glitch on our end. It's resolved now. Glad it all got sorted out in the end!

Thanks for letting me know, Ryan. Though had it been a yahoomail glitch I would not have been surprised. Anyway, I look forward to getting to grips with X3.
